Bristol Vs Exeter Vs Nottingham Vs Leeds Vs Lancaster

Hey guys, I am an international student and I have received offers for the Msc Management course in the aforementioned universities. I have received a 7000 pound scholarship from Lancaster and none from others. Which is the better university in terms of career and student life ? I want to go into management consulting after my degree. Should I pay full tuition fee for a bit better brand name or is Lancaster worth it for lower fees? I am still waiting for decisions from Edinburgh, durham and Warwick. Your input is highly appreciated.

Hi @bizkit777,

Congratulations on receiving all of your offers :clap2:!

It is also great news about your scholarship! I am a current final year undergraduate student on the Marketing Management degree at Lancaster University so I thought I would reply to share further insights about Lancaster in the hope it helps you .

It is a really tough decision choosing what university to attend but for me Lancaster has been the perfect choice. I have felt right at home here. I see you have asked specifically about careers and student life, so I will elaborate on these two elements but if you have any more questions about Lancaster then please reply to this message.

Regarding careers, Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) has a perfect offering in my opinion. As a student in LUMS you can benefit from a specialised LUMS careers service as well as the wider university careers service. Both services have been really helpful in my opinion but specifically the LUMS service enables you to have specialised help in management related careers. There are dedicated specialist careers coach, for example I meet with one specific to marketing. The careers service is also available 24/7 through an online offering and also via in person meetings to check over CVs, cover letters, interview and assessment centre preparation etc. The team have been so helpful and definitely gave me the confidence to succeed in my placement year which ultimately led me to secure a graduate job which I will begin later this year. Overall Lancaster University is ranked 2nd in the UK for graduate employability (Guardian University League Tables 2020). I notice you are interested in management consulting, this is certainly possible as I can think of at least two of my friends who have secured jobs at PwC and EY!

The student life at Lancaster has suited me well. I love the campus. I presume you have not been able to visit the campus? I recommend watching this virtual campus tour to give you a greater insight. It is like a mini town in its own right! The city is about a 10 minute bus ride away from campus and has a variety of bars, restaurants, cafes, clubs, cinema, theatres etc. There are gorgeous parks and I specifically love walking along the canal and grabbing food from the independent pizza and burrito restaurants. You can also see the sea from Williamson Park and Morecambe is only a 20 minute journey away with the Lake District and additional cities also easily accessible by great train links.

Please let me know if you have any further questions about Lancaster University. If not, I wish you the best of luck with your future studies .
