Hi Fizztastic, I hadn a clue about name badges, jus when I was over buyin a hoodie the girl asked me wat course I was doin so I cud get discount, an when I said nursing she said oh do u want to order a name badge so I did, it was somethin like £8 so mayb its optional, I jus ordered 1 anyway lol...she said they take a wk to cme in!

gosh thats strange they didnt include the flyer in your welcome letter,
name badge is not optional, it is considered part of your uniform, infact one girl on a placement with me got sent home by a stressed ward manager, cos she didn't have it... dunno what her deal was, but she was not happy...
last year there was a deal, i think it was like, a hoodie and a badge for like 30£ or something :smile:

that is so crap about the system crashing, it didn't happen last year, thank god, I would have freaked! haha... don't worry too much, it will all be sorted for monday.

You will soon learn things in huge numbers get interesting, our cohort was dong our online nursing practice exam last october and no one got any results cos the system crashed!! it was hilarious, not at the time you can understand... but everyone was like soooo cross, we thought we where going to have to do it again.... :eek3:

anyway!! congrats guys....

go to www.qub.ac.uk
go to schools and departments
go to nursing and midwifery
--- education
down the side bar too - student noticeboard, use your log in details, and then go down to sept 2010 intake
and occupational health register or something, and se the tabs to go through the lists, until you find your name... then that group is yours

emm, no the hoodie isn't essential, but I love mine!! haha

well, I am going into my second year, and the likes of Jason and myself used this forum last year, so we both come on from time to time, to see how everyone is getting on, and help if we can. And tuesday, is the RCN Recruitment drive at Queens, in the foyer of the MBC...
I dunno how much you know about the RCN, but it is a professional body, and a trade union, in that it is about education and promotion of the profession, as well as promoting the interests of its members. In QUB we are unique in that the RCN HQ is only up the road, and has one of the greatest libraries, with great staff. Its the best place to study, actually! haha, so quiet.
But, basically, I am the Student Rep... so I want to take time to say hello to everyone, and introduce myself, face to face to as many people as possible, so they know if they need anything, who to come to.

just got a call there from registary wanting to know why i didnt get registered yesterday. i explained about being told that the printer wasnt working, and the lady said that they were told nothing about it yesterday, and only because 50 people didnt get resistered they thought they would ring around and ask, otherwise our places would be going elsewhere! Thank god there was so many not registered or i would be left without a place.

QSiS can be very dody in the past few years it has crashed multiple times during enrollment.

You can order the badge at the QUB welcome centre, which is within the Lanyon Building (the big red brick building); you literally just go in the main door and its on your left.

Would also advise getting a fob watch by your first placement if you haven't already got one, they're not that expensive but pretty much an essential

I dont mind about the system crash, its was the lack of communication. If only 2 or 3 people couldnt get enroled yesterday, then maybe the school of nursing would never have thought to query it and they may have just gave our places away. I know (thankfully) that didnt happen, but after all it took to get on the course I would have been SO cross if it had been given away because somebody didnt enform the neccessary people.

not specifically nursing but im looking to join the belfast leisure centre with a student membership and in order to do so i need to get a letter stamped and dated from queens saying that i attend full time...... where would one get this type of thing done? or who would be best to contact?

I remember finding one of them on QOL at one stage, it was for the land registry/ or opening a student bank account. But, the letter welcoming you to queens should work. If not, you could try the nursing reception, they would let you know

I got a phone call this morning too. The lady asked had I registered and had a uniform and I said yes I just didn't have the student card. She said the course coordinator (I think) would be making an announcement about it on Monday morning. We will have to get them at lunchtime and she will tell us where then.
