Yeah deffering my place was the first thing i tried to do. Though they said that places could only be deffered through medical circumstances. Bit Pd off, but thats the way it happens. Going to become a dad any day now  so il put my attention on this first.lol. Then reapply. Hope everything works out for everyone

Congratulations, at least you'll be kept busy!! Best of luck with everything
Access09, that's fantastic news, very pleased for u, I'm sure you're over the moon! How did reg and fitting go for everyone? The uniform price jumped from 151 to 181! Nuts! Wasn't expecting that. Can't believe its only 3days until we start! I keep looking at my student card 'nursing student' lol feels so real now!

Its 10am in the MBC lecture theatre 1, which is to the left as soon as u walk in. I'm going to get the train to city hospital and walk thru, only takes a few mins

Yea i was there, they put the uniform price up to 181 and i hadnt wnough cash with me but the woman said i wasnt the first that had happened to. I see it says on the timetable for next week there is a time for uniform fitting. Maybe you get yours done then. I cant wait til we get our groups and meet everyone
Hi Daisy, did you see many mature students at your fitting slot? there seemed to be a lot of younger people at mine, maybe 19-20ish.
I took a look around afterwards and even bought myself a queen's hoodie lol then went to costa for a cuppa where I left my timetable at the table!! great start  So if anyone has a scanner please feel free to email it to my address please!

cool i wana hoodie too do u get them in the shop at the lanyon building? there was 1 or 2 mature students all the rest were young. U will get another timetable on Monday im sure. O did u order a badge for your uniform, do u get them in the mbc?
Dont worry Access 09 im 31 so your not the only one i would say there be plenty more. Are yous bringing a packed lunch on 1st day or i wonder does every1 eat out?
Yup, the welcome centre shop, but it's moved at the minute just around the corner because of building work, the hoodie was £33 but I got discount with the student card  it will be handy because I can just stick it on with jeans instead of searching for a different outfit everyday!
Well when I was up at the open day looking around the MBC, we had lunch in one of the cafes, so I think i'll probably go there, but I'll bring a wee sandwich anyways.
As for the badge, I don't know, gonna wait and see what they tell us just

Hey guys
You all sound so excited - you'll love it!
Just to answer some queries - we got our badges in the lanyon, welcome centre, where you bought your hoodies, just order them from the staff at the counter. They can take a good few weeks to arrive, although your cohort is smaller than the sept intake, so it mightn't be as busy.
You'll be able to print off your timetable online, through the queen's online website, so don't worry about that!
As for lunch, some bring packed lunch, some eat out, much cheaper to bring your own though. Starbucks is good for coffee!!
Thanks kat I'm so lookin forward to starting. I know it won't be a walk in the park. How are u getting on so far? Did u enjoy your 1st placement?

Yeah, loved it - was a medical placement in children's ward - learnt so much. We're out on our second placement from next week, can't believe time is going sooo fast. Love the uni bits too, the lectures are really interesting - although not everyone would agree!

Hi Fairy101

Welcome to the forum, it's really helpful. If you look back to around this time last year, you should find lots of interview tips. My memory is terrible, but as far as I do remember I was asked 5 questions, something like these:

Tell me about 2 occasions when when you have had to overcome a difficult situation and what was the outcome?

Why do you want to be a (children's) nurse?

Something about how do you study/ study techniques?

What is the daily role of a nurse?

What is the role of literacy in nursing?

Also, read up on what's going on in the nursing world, I read nursing time weekly, although bbc health news is good online, as well as lots of others sites.

Good luck and keep us posted how you're getting on.
