The course is hard going. My friend was offered a place stayed for 6 months and left. The course had completely taken over her life. Placements where all over Northern Ireland.

You're not wrong there - it really does take over your life. But if you're really commited, it's absolutely fantastic! I just love it! Incredibly interesting.

It's very physically and mentally exhausting but worth every minute.

Good luck to everyone waiting to hear back; I was in that position last year, and didn't find out i'd got a place until early September!

Fantastic, midwifery is so hard to get into, so you've done so well.

Enjoy the course!

Magee and coleraine are usually 2 half days and 1 full day a week where as queens is 5 full days. and I have heard that coleraine have the most helpful tutors. I also heard that Queens have a pass mark of 60% whereas UU have a pass rate of 40%.

Hi, I am just coming to the end of my first year at Queens and the pass mark is also 40%. Overall the workload for Queens in first year is less than it is for UU as we didnt have any xmas exams. So far I have had a 500 word essay, 2000 word essay, 3 class tests (that go towards my overal grade) and comming up I have 2 larger exams, a maths test (pass mark 80%) and my OCSE's, so over a year is is not to bad. I have found my tutour brill, he proofs reads my work (many wont) and is very easy going. I have abs Loved my first year, it has been hard as I have been placed in Omagh and my next one is Derry which means I have to stay away from my 2 children, if you are really dedicated and have a good support network it wont be too much of an issue and some people are lucky and do get placements changed (though there is never any gaurentee). Good luck to you all. Sabs.
Sabs what branch of nursing are you on?

Im in Mental Health and I love it, though every one does the same first year regardless of what branch. Everyone is together for lectures (about 300 people) and then we get split up into smaller tutorials (about 20 people) and these are with people in the same branch as yourself.
