Hey, does anyone have any experience with transferring to queen's from another uni? I'm doing children's nursing in London (currently in first year) but I really want to go home, I'm not happy here at all. I emailed the school of nursing and they said they usually advertise for transfers around april/may if there are places available. Does anyone have any idea of the liklihood of places being available? Will they give preference to applicants on a reserve list before students who want to transfer? ahhhh, i just want to go home! :'(

Hi, just sent my application in to Queens for adult nursing. Does anyone know if there is an age limit for applicants, or is that simply not allowed?

Thank you.

Hey

Def no age limit lol!! I'm 35 and lovin it sooo much, I'm in second year childrens branch. There's a really good range of people with a huge range of experiences - from school leavers to people well into their forties. It's all about what kind of person you are which is not dependent on age.

Good luck with your application, any questions, just ask,

Just handed in my application form with only a few hours to go! Fingers crossed fourth time lucky, good luck everyone! <3 xxx

Hi there,
I left mine in yesturday. im a bit frightened now you trying for the fourth time, was the interview difficult?
Im also wondering did u ever or ids it possible to get wind of what ques they will ask before the interview. Do people put it on here if they have had an early interview?

I'm starting adult branch in a few weeks time - just off the top of my head my questions were, what is the role of a nurse? why is having access NI clearance important? Tell me about a challenge you have faced and how you managed it. Why is communication important? (cant remember anything else I was asked) but if you are aware of something going on in nursing news right now, like pressures of more work or tackling obesity, they might ask something like that. Also, your skills, how they would make you a good nurse, importance of record keeping, fit in any experience you have had etc.
Have a look on older posts here - thats where i got most my preparation questions.
I was so nervous before the interview, but honestly, the people were lovely and will encourage you.
My biggest tip for any interviews is to THINK before answering. They dont mind you having a wee 5 second silence to make sure you say the right thing. Good luck!!!
I have also applied to Queens for 1st choice Midwifery, 2nd choice Adult Nursing. Has anyone heard anything? Im anxious waiting already! lol

Interviews meant to be in march, so maybe a few weeks yet before we hear anything

Thanks wee bee you can keep us posted on how u get on bet u cant wait.
Start my adult nursing in 3 weeks (excited isn't the word!). The waiting between interview and offer is the hardest. I found out offers were out on Facebook and chased the postman up the street!
Interviews aren't too bad either, just try (!) and relax and think before you speak. I made a mistake and totally misinterpreted the question but the interviewer was really nice and reworded the question to get the correct answer. Can't really remember cause it feels like an eternity ago, but I think my questions were: 1) tell us a bit about yourself, 2) what is your biggest achievement to date, 3) why do you want to be a nurse, 4) why do we screen our nurses (criminal records etc) and 5) tell us what you understand by the term "holistic therapy"
Good luck to everyone for interviews! Just think, after that horrible 20 minutes is over, there's Starbucks nearby!
Interview dates and times must be going to be released soon. Anyone heard anything yet? Thank you.
hey i havent heard anything as of yet?? so stressful all this waiting lol
It said on the webiste it would be the first week of next month which i am assuming was febuary, why are these people never on time!?! lol!
Good luck everyone!
xx

Yeah, I have applied too and am up the wall waiting! I have read on another thread that it was mid February last year, so we could have another week or 2 to wait yet. Is by letter or email does anyone know? I'm applying as a mature student so am worried that I may be disqualified due to the fact that I've not done much academically in the last 10 - 12 years. I've a lot of voluntary experience and have done some pretty intense courses with a vol ambulance service so I'm hoping that will stand to me. But it's so hard not knowing! I'm dying to get out of my current job - boring, office stuff - and get stuck into something interesting and meaningful. Well, best of luck to everyone and I'll keep my fingers (and everything else!) crossed for us all.

Its by letter that we find out!
I dont think u should have anything to worry about, your experience sounds good

all the best!

I've applied this year for adult nursing at queens. I really want to do nursing but something thats bothering me a bit is the ratio of females to males on the course. Could anyone tell how many males have been on the course in previous years? Thanks alot
Reply 2879
Thanks Wee Button - you made me feel better!

A question to anyone who is currently on the course and happens to read this thread (long shot!) - would ye know of anyone who is studying and perhaps working partime as a care assistant to supplement their income. Just wondering if this is possible? Would you have the time? Thanks.
