Hey

I have been volunteering and i also have a hospital placement! I got these by ringing the volunteering department at Altnagelvin hospital.

Hey Catherinec18, what do you on your hospital placement in Altnagevin? How many hours/days a week do you be in for? I would love a hospital placement myself..
Thanks

The offer/rejection letters usually arrive on a Saturday guys, at least they have done for the last few years, hopefully you won't have too much longer to wait I remember how nerve-wracking it was!

hey, i have been on different wards, from Dermatology to Maternity. I got to shadow the nurses and see what it involves! It involved bed making, general care for the patients! Some of the wards promoted independance so i never really got to do much personal hygine care! i only assited. However other wards were high dependency so it did involve taking patients to the toilet washing, dressing feeding etc! In the dermatology ward i was involved with doing the dressings in the treatment room! I really enjoyed the maternity placement- i got to see several natural births and a c section.

i went on hospital placement too, but didnt get to see anything like that, cant believe they let u in on a c -section thats brill! wen i had my 1st c-section they wouldnt even let my mum in the room! x
I had my interview for Queen's childrens nursing on 14th March, they told me it would be May that we'd hear back. My friend whose surname begins with T (mine begins with L) was told June. So we assumed it would be alphabetical just like it was when they were sending out letters for interviews.

The other day she emailed them because she wanted to know whether it would be worth applying for accomodation or not but they told her not to because apparently everyone won't be hearing back until June. So if that's the case then that's another month we have to wait! It's unfair, because everyone is applying for accomodation and we'll probably be left with crap ones haha

The wait to hear back from Queens is killing me :frown: wish they would just send out the letters!

i think they all get sent on the same day, regardless of surname. my surname begins with f and they told me it could be may or june, i think they say june to prevent people ringing everyday. i just wish it would hurry up! if we knew one way or another we could sort out our plans. everything will just have to wait :frown: such a long process!

I wonder do they have to check out all the references before they can send out letters? That would be very time consuming probably why it takes so long

maybe so, wouldnt fancy their job!

Hey  I had my interview for children nursing on the 27th of March and this waiting is killing me!!! At 33 I am a mature student  , atm just about to finish access course. I have hospital experience (nursing auxiliary), thou working with eldery, however I'm actively involved with "childrens" charities e.g. area group organiser etc. Anyway, my interview was over in about 10 minutes, I feel that I have answered well but Im thinking that it was possibly little too brief  . How long did everyone elses interview lasted?

mine lasted about 15-20mins but they were speaking away to me about things too so i certainly wasnt talking for 20mins lol

im 23 finishing up and access course atm too, my interview was so long ago that im doubting how i did in it, i think it went well but this wait (longer than any exam results ive waited for) is quite draining at this point lol, i just want to know so i can make arrangements about housing etc

Hi

I just called QUB today and the lady told me that all letters would be going out on 22nd May
That's scary :frown: I'm so nervous. I know i'm not gonna get an offer and just waiting for a rejection is just sad
Wells girls and boys i just spoke to a lovely lady in Admissions at Queens and she told me letters will be sent out 22nd May... I needed to find out what the entry criteria was for next yr if im unsuccessful this year as my college has opened its part-time courses which are offered on a first come first serve basis! The lady at Queens told me that they are reviewing the application process.. Midwifery will no longer be direct entry from nxt yr onwards we will have to apply through UCAS!
