Nursing at Queens...

Scroll to see replies

There is a fair amount of science within the course, and due to the nature of the course everything is delivered within small periods of time. People in my year who had previous evidence of studying science even just to A level did find those elements of the course much easier. It would beneficial to have some kind of knowledge/ refresher.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm going to try and get in without as I'm off to new Zealand until jan, and I couldn't afford to do an a level or access course on
online!I did have chemistry modules in my first degree and I did use alot of maths but once u throw in fashion or textiles ppl don't really want to know! Lol I don't mind going over to England and try and get in as I definitely want to be a nurse, and if I have to go back to tech next year so be it. I just rather be by a beach for a few months first lol good luck with everyone's course and applications. X

Hey,
I am hoping to apply for nursing at queens for 2013.
I don't have a science background though! I have ACC in my a levels and a 2.1 degree in textile design. I went to the open day and one of the lecturers said I would struggle with the science modules. Did anyone else get this kind of feedback and doesnt come from a science background?
thanks
kate

I have no science background and I got accepted

I'm certain that the WAVE course is completely separate from ours. Its a part time specialist course...hoping so anyway!

I'm new to this. I am just heading into my 2nd year of the access course, hope to be applying to midwifery for the intake of 2013. Been told it is very hard to get into. Just wondered what do they look for at interviews or in your application forms? I was also told that my best bet would be to apply for children's and transfer over after a year/2years, but can you do this? Tryn everything to get experience, just dont know where to get it. :frown:

Children nursing is very hard to get into as well - your best bet is adult nursing. In midwifery they r looking for a good knowledge of the role of a midwife so start getting some background info, statistics, what effects the role of the midwife within her job, ask urself what a midwife would do in a range of scenarios -
I got into children's nursing at with no scientific background or experience, I have a degree in English from QUB and was studying an access in humanities and social sciences when I was interviewed, they took me on the qualifications I already had - bit of a waste of a year!
