i applied for the 18 month programme so questions could be different for the 3year one. was sooo nervous but the 2 midwifery lectures were really nice. was asked 5 questions

1.difference between the role of nurse and midwife
2. what had i read, researched, what had i learnt from it
3. what qualities could i bring to midwifery
4. characteristics of a good midwife
5. professional development since qualifying as a nurse

glad its over. they only have 30-35 places for the 18month programme and think its july we find out. good luck everyone.

They asked 4 questions
1. Why do you want to be a midwife?
2. What characteristics do u have for midwifery?
3. Why does a midwife have to b of good character?
4. What issues are in midwifery within the nhs?
I no my out come is a rejection but I can always do it through the nursing route it will take me longer but hopefully get there one day.

Hi chillinwitmynomie, sorry its taken me so long to reply, not able to get on the comp as often as Id like. Im still in shock (I know, even after a week) I keep reading the letter over and over! Cannot wait til sept either, have talked non-stop about it, driving everyone crazy (they say il soon be quiet after a 37.5 hr week on placement as well as having essays) but it will be worth it. Good luck to all those in the midst of midwifery interviews x

hey, i'm also a mature student (well mature enough i'm 24!) with 2 little boys under 3, got an offer for adult nursing in sept, my best friend is going into her 3rd yr of nursing and she too has little ones. Her timetable when shes at uni is pretty reasonable sometimes shes only in for a few hours a day and has some days off too! I think the hours on placement are quite tiring but at least its only for 6 weeks at a time! Its gonna be hard work but so totally worth it in the end! xxxx

My little one is 10months the other is going into p1. Im terrible at leaving them but will be worth it in the end. Am starting with a new childminder was hoping to have some sort of idea for trains and drop off times etc (im coming from Antrim). Im a bit older 30! A girl who just graduated told me you dont get assignments when on placement, im dreading uni time more than placements! Have to keep 10hrs a week on in work too. I am excited too though. Weve done well!!

I'm not waiting on any results and am just worried if I have to wait right until the end of August how this will work if I am lucky enough to get a place as I have to give 4 weeks notice to my employer????
Hi, I am mature student (28) with 2 girls aged 4 and 2, hav offer for adult in sept, now tht I have been discussing it with my hubby, it is gonna be so hard to organise the girls and get them minded around uni and my hubby's wrk hrs, alot to be considered between now and sept, does any1 know wat the placement hrs are like? Hi Pixiebo77 I wud say tht they wont be able to let people know who is in until they get everyones results so they can then start to allocate places, its gonna be a long summer esp for 1's waiting on a level results, we get our access results on 18th of june so not too bad! Do u know wat score u got an if u hav a gud chance of a place?
