did anybody else hear that this academic year of 2010/11 is the last year of the bursaries??

Yea I heard that too a few months ago, also I have a friend going into her 3rd year and she said it is definately true....the only good thing is anyone starting sept 2010/feb 2011 are entitled to the bursary for the full 3 years.......god help anyone after that cause with the full time hours you need to put in I would find it impossible to hold down a job along with my family commitments as well!

Newguy where in the MBC did you bring your results to have them verified....im going over on Monday morning to show mine....is it just the reception desk in the school of nursing?

Not gonna believe a thing until I see it in black and white about the bursaries being taken away, stayin hopefull lol.......All the same like I said before might reduce the numbers applying......and then the amount of people dropping out.....which is probably a contributing factor to why the government are possibly doing away with the bursaries
At the end of the day how can people survive without getting the bursaries nursing is such an intense course so if goin to b hard to work at the same time. On the other hand student loans may b available but then ur goin to b in debt n it's from the goverment so it's just goin to go round in circles as not every1 pays back student loans cos they don't earn enough, I just hope it works out for every1 appying next yr.
one more sleep til I get my results....I'm freaking out bigtime! just hope its good news! xx

Got my copy of Access NI in the post yesterday...phewww....all clear....lol....another step closer to Sept....any news on occ health?
So I recieved a reserve list offer and have heard good things about the luck of reserve listers in the past. I am to have my results looked at queens on the 20th of August. Does this mean if i am given a spot for september I may not find out until september?

I have mine on the 14th July as well. Does anyone know what they do at the check? do they just as questions or do they take blood tests as well?

hi, You still stand a really good chance of a place, my friend was on reserve list 2 yrs ago and she also had to take results for verification in aug, they let her know really quickly that she had a place for sept, I think maybe around a week? so you will know in aug i would imagine.
Did you call to find out your interview score?
best of luck!!!

I had an occ health check before I started volunteering, they asked me all about my physical and mental health, looked at my hands and skin to see the condition (my hands are very dry apparently!), checked my weight, height etc, I had to do an eye test. I think they want to check on your fitness to get through the course and become a nurse at the end of the training. Im not sure what they will do for queens.

She looked at my face, ears and arms (not thoroughly just a quick look) and asked me if I ever had or have any skin conditions. She really looked at my hands and said they are very dry and that I needed to take more care in moisturising them!
