Psychology

okay guys I got a research methods psych question if anyone can help me pls do
so basically these researchers wanted to see which seats around the library were most popular
The question is
‘Before the observation could begin the researchers needed to operationalise the behavioural category ‘type of work’
Explain what is meant by operationalisation and suggest two ways in which ‘type of work’ could be operationalised.’
here’s what I have written
Operationalisation is when a variable is defined by the researcher and a way of measuring that variable is defined in this case the variable being the type of work.
but I couldn’t think of two suggestions. Can someone check what I have written so far is right and can anyone think of two suggestions.
i think your definition of operationalisation is a little bit muddled - the way i'd describe it is 'clearly defining variables in terms of how they can be measured'. when operationalising 'types of work' think about what different things people in the library could be doing (e.g. revising for tests or doing homework maybe?) hope this is helpful!
