As a fairly obvious hint, the question is based around the double angle identities. So either expand the left hand side using the addition and double angle identities or represent the right hand side in terms of double angles then combine. Either way, it should be relatively straightforward.

And I put the question on here because I cannot do it, I’m aware i need to use double angle identities but none of my attempts have worked. Hence I asked for the solution..

I am assuming this is a proof. Not sure if it is completely correct but I thought I’d give it a go.
