The course is ran 7miles from the main base which is quite isolated. What are your thoughts on accommodation?

Hello @Dringo,

Hope you are doing well.

I am a current student at Oxford Brookes University, although I do not study Cyber Security. I would be more than happy to help answer any questions about the University or Student Life.

All the best,

Congratulations on your offer!

I'm hoping to apply for the cyber security course at Oxford Brookes next academic year! Any tips for what to put on a personal statement?

Hi Shaf, I understand that the cyber security takes place at the Wheatley campus which is really out of the way and is isolated. My dilemma is, I would like to live close to the main Headington Campus but will then need to travel daily to Wheatley. I want to meet new people and socialise and access the gym as I do a lot of Calisthenics. What is your experience of Wheatley? And what’s social life like @ Brookes?

Hello @ScoutLeopard,

Hope you are doing well. We are so excited to hear that you plan on joining us at Oxford Brookes University.

Although I do not study Cyber Security, I am a current student at Brookes.

Tips for any personal statement I would say are that, you should use it as an opportunity to display your passion and interest for the course you are applying for. It is a way for you to be able to show the admissions team why you are a good applicant and why the course that you are applying to is the right course for you.

I hope this helps. I would be happy answer any more questions you may have about the University or Student Life.

All the best,

Shaf

Hi @Dringo,

Well in my personal experience my course has been based fully at Headington, so I have not had much experience travelling to the Wheatley Campus. However throughout my time at University, I have met and socialised with many students who were based at Wheatley for their course. It did not stop them from studying and spending time at the Headington Campus, this is aided by the fact that Brookes Buses run between the campuses and near accommodations to allow students with ease of travel.

There are many societies and sports teams at the University which students may join, this is another main way for them to be able to socialise with others. Since societies do hold socials and events to allow students with that chance to socialise. I for example am a commuting student so I lived at home during my time at University, this however did not stop me from being able to socialise with others, since there were many opportunities for me to be able to do so. I was able to socialise with people on the same course as me, as well as with those who were not.

I hope this is able to help answer your questions. If you do have anymore questions, please do feel free to ask.

All the best,

Shaf

Hi all!

I'm going to be studying cyber security at Oxford Brookes as well. I've heard from plenty of students that the accomodation in Wheately is grim. I've seen it myself. Personally, I'm planning on living in Clive Booth Student Village because it's central, but also on the U1 bus route, which will take you direct into Wheately campus, as well as the city center.
