Will I lose all my marks in chem?

When asked to draw the structure I drew the whole compounds display formula :frown: it didn’t explicitly say structural formula but does that mean I’ve lost all those marks I feel so stupid

If it says draw structural formula in the question yes. If not, no.

Normally drawing out displayed formula is alright if they ask for the structural formula. The only one that has to be particular is skeletal - if they ask for skeletal, you have to draw skeletal. If they don't ask for skeletal, don't draw skeletal.

It said draw the structure, and I drew the displayed formula

Probably no marks then. But as above, it depends on the mark scheme and if structural and displayed formula can be used interchangeably or not.

That should be perfectly fine then

Yeah but it didn’t say structural formula only “draw the structure” I was only confused because when I looked over past paper questions afterwards, skeletal and structural formulas where listed as being acceptable in some questions, but other questions phrased the same way had displayed formula in the Mark scheme

Hello, I have a similar issue to OP. I had 3 2 markers asking me to draw STRUCTURAL FORMULAS of isomers however I only drew the displayed formula. Do you think I will be penalised for this, or is there something in AQAs rules that allows for displayed formulas wherever it asks for structural??
Thanks

since it asked for the structural formula the markscheme will probably say ignore displayed formula so i don’t think you’ll get any marks

I’ve found the mark scheme, and it doesn’t explicitly say to ignore displayed, but it’s only she the structural in the MS. However for the cyclic molecule it shows a semi structural semi displayed.
