The uni venue (the cube) has good bands/dj nights every now and again, but I'd say the best bands play the Southampton Guildhall (the main venue in the city centre). I'm seeing billy talent and biffy clyro play there oct/nov time

Personally I'd get one now. Secures you a place, and you could always sell it if you can't get anyone else to go. Or go alone and make new friends there!
