Remember not to believe everything you hear! It's like Chinese whispers at Uni... So many rumours!
I'm not talking about identifying the girl... Just wanted to say that if you were talking about that incident, there wasn't a group fight? A girl got crept up on by behind, then the guy ran away. This was at 7pm on Church Lane.

I will pM you.

Exactly. I was in Manchester for just two nights and on the third morning two cars had been broken into.

To be fair I heard that 1/3 car thefts in the UK happen in manchester.

Like the other guys here, I don't personally know anybody at southampton uni who has been mugged/assaulted. That may be because I'm not of an ethnic minority, it may also have no relevance. I would hope the latter is true. It's also worth noting that the parks around Solent university are far more dangerous than around portswood (the student area for Southampton Uni).

To be fair, that's not true, as I was assaulted twice during fresher year. Guess I just have one of those faces :teeth:. And there are burglaries. :frown:

But at the same time, I wouldn't say there's any more crime here than in any other city of its size - and I find the poster who mentioned it in the first place to be quite odd indeed!

Being from Monte probably had something to do with it aswell  . Come to think of it i know hemmerz boyfriend got his house broken into and his laptop nicked. That made me get some insurance.
And Chloe's house was robbed.

I wouldn't call it 'fantasising' in any case. :wtf:
No, because fanasising isn't a real word. So you'd have to be a complete retard to call it that.
Hi

just wanted to ask, is it possible for southampton undergrads studying biomed to transfer to medicine after their first year?

Not that I know of. I think it's only Newcastle who allow a couple of people (at the most) to transfer to medicine. Might be worth emailing the school of medicine office.

Thanks for that.

Who has also heard of the girl being sexually assulted last week on her way back home at late night, which finally led to a big group fight? How will the offender be penalised eventually?
Is the security of Southampton so disorderd that every girl walking back home at late night has to shoulder such risk? Has uni taken any measures on that?

The security in Southampton I am sure is running as best as possible. They don't just sit back and drink tea night and day and they certainly can't eradicate all of the crime in the city. I don't understand the point of your post.

Infact, I watched a programme last night about the police security in Southampton and Portsmouth. They seem pretty pro-active!

It isn't really the University's responsibility, all they can do is warn students of the dangers.

And as for the police... In my experience, they do a really good job
I've seen so many police and uni security guards around campus/portswood in the last few days when i've been walking home from rehearsals between 10pm and midnight. So many more than last year too!
