Well is it rather amazing :awesome:

What are you going to study?

What kind of things do you want to know?

You definitely won't get bored easily! There's just so much going on at the Uni and in halls that it would take me all day to mention them all. The societies are particularly good, there seems to be a society for everything haha. And sport's excellent, plus nightlife

I'm studying economics hopefully if I get the grades.

Could you possibly tell me a little bit about the city and what students usually do during the day? Are there loads of places for nightlife or do you end up at the same place weekly?

I'm so excited about going and I guess I'm being a pessimist as usual. :colondollar:

Did you see the flashmob at 1pm? I got involved in it. :teeth:

Just had a 50% coursework mark back from last semester before I get results tomorrow - got 47.

So, SO disappointed.

47/50?
47/100

Haven't had a mark that low since first-year. :erm:

yeah, I realized... :frown:
Bad times. We get our exam results at 10pm tonight. I'm ****ting myself.
I'm not entirely sure when my results are available electronically - but I can pick mine up tomorrow.

Well the city centre's lovely, lots of shops, cafes, green spaces and nice places to sit, like infront of the civic centre. There's 2 multiplex cinemas (that I know about) plus little independent cinemas.

During the day I tend to either go to lectures or bum around my flat with my flatmates (and do work) but other options are going shopping, going to the gym (membership costs £115 for the year, and for that you get unlimited access to all sports facilities that belong to the uni (and there are A LOT).
I also tend to meet friends in the union a lot, there's a couple of cafes there, plus its own cinema and 1,700 capacity nightclub which has evenings i think 3 times a week.

Nightlife wise there are 3 main 'areas':
Portswood has Sobar, Jesters, The Hobbit and for the metal lovers The Dungeon, plus a few others. It is my favourite place by far, particularly Jesters which is both the best and worse nightclub ever, you're guaranteed a good night out.
Basically Portswood is cheap and cheerful.

Bedford Place has some really good clubs and bars. It's just north of the centre and can be a really good night out, especially places like Reflex (which is cheesy 80s themed) and Junk when it has a proper event. Bit pricier than Portswood but also classier haha, plus there's more choice and the clubs are bigger.

Finally city centre. Biggest fixtures here being Oceana, Bliss and Wahoo. Oceana is Oceana, it's big, the music's good, but I'm personally not a fan. Bliss is good, I'm going there tomorrow night as their Friday's are really good. Wahoo can't comment on. Basically City Centre has the biggest clubs which are guaranteed to have big nights and be packed.

So yeah, quite a big choice.

One last thing, if you live in halls for first year your bus pass is free, which takes you all the way from the airport right down to the docks, and past all of these clubs plus through the city centre (and through the uni, obvs).

Got an offer for Philosophy V500 AAB
got an offer for BM6,...BCC

which means I'm deffo coming to soton and I reckon I need to know a few things...

1)....the best bars and clubs
2)....best campus
3)....what its like to live there and if having a bike as transport is enough
4)....thats all for now
passed all my modules :h:
pretty polarised set of results tho, odd but I don't care
"Your results will be available from 00:01 on Friday 25th February."

LIES! (for me)

Ugh, that was a long day/night. Been in that Smurf outfit since 8am, and have to be back in it at 8am. Ended up doing Stags -> Orange Rooms -> Jesters and I'm exhausted.

Stags -> Twisted tomorrow should be easier given that I live right next door :gah:
I'm so incredibly pleased with my results. I got 60% in this module which the average for the exam was 58% and having read the feedback I was ****ting myself. That's probably one of my hardest modules this year so phew. I got 69% in the other one which I suspect was buoyed by good fieldwork and coursework because I didn't revise for much of the exam but hey, it's 69!
Day 2 of campaign week - I've had 5 hours sleep and I have to do a lecture shout out. :colonhash:

Then I need to get my results at some point too. Ugh.
This campaign week sounds like far too much effort. Also, It gets annoying when people come into lectures to talk to you about something you couldn't give a damn about just making you later out of your lecture...
2.1

You asked at the wrong time, everyone got their grades today

1)....the best bars and clubs - depends on what you like, there is a lot of variety, pretty much just go where other people go in freshers week and you will find things you like, everywhere will be rammed and pretty good anyway that week, the cube is good in freshers week apart from that there is oceana, bedfor place (which is mainly like bars with dance floors) and then portswood which has loads of cheaper places, jesters is a bit renound for being really cheap and really nasty but at the same time soo good

2)....best campus - you dont get to choose your campus, it depends on what degree you are doing, you will be based at highfield campus. arts degrees like languages, archeology, history etc are based at avenue campus and geology, oceanography and marine biology are based at the NOC.

3)....what its like to live there and if having a bike as transport is enough - bike is defo enough, probably not needed though, if your in halls in first year, which i would trongly suggest, then you get a free bus pass
