I find though that there are a hell of a lot of people who ignore all campaigning and will actually read the manifestos and vote off those. His was a strong manifesto. I don't see why he didn't just let the vote run anyway even though he probably wouldn't have won.

I think I will try and come on Thurs

Yeah I ignore most of the campaigning now, overly vocal annoying campaign teams put people off if anything. I am genuinely gonna go on manifestos/debates/husting answers this year!
There was one campaign that thoroughly put me off voting for them... just showed complete ignorance to anything that wasn't Highfield.
It's got to the point doing lecture shoutouts where we're actually feeling guilty about it - I hate doing them as it is and I know how easily people get pissed off by them.

Going to sleep now for a few hours because it's been another long day. And Sobar tonight. :h:
Going back on (FM!?) Surge tomorrow, listen out for my dulcet, slightly welsh, tones between 3 and 5 on the concourse and in the SU tomorrow
I'll go for a nap then. :gah:

Nawww, I expect I'll be on concourse for a bit.
wanted to go sobar to celebrate no more essay, have gotten ill fml.

I think it varies really - Southampton is quite a Pure-focussed University, but there are a lot of students that do mostly applied modules, even in fourth-year.

Jonathan Brooks who is running in the SUSU elections is a fourth-year Maths student doing mostly applied. :h:

Is this really true that southampton is very pure-focused? I guess first year material is mostly going to be pure but what about second year? how many of your lecturers are involved in cutting edge research (if you dont mind me asking)?

For 'cutting edge' research there's Gareth Jones, Jacek Brodzki, Brita Nucinkis and Ashot Minasyan (all pure) and Tim Sluckin (Applied), so it's not hard to see why Soton is Pure-focussed.

For later years it very much depends on the options you take. :yy:

To the others: I'm having a dance-off with Shane tomorrow on concourse at some point, so be aware! :gah:

I think you mean Dan. Brita is his wife. :mmm:

Also, Smurphy dance-off with Shane has been postponed until tomorrow because the vixens were too good.

Oh my bad. Didn't realise there were two of them cos we referred to him by his surname! We had Dan in first year and he was cool.

Today was fun, though we were sooo aware of Glen Eyre and the concourse listening, especially considering the show plays metal hahaha. P

thanks
Tomorrow is the big one then.

I'll be back up in 6hrs to prep the boards for one last push for glory - the initial prognosis is promising with a suggested win by a few hundred votes for Shane - if that's the case I'll feel like all my hard work and lack of sleep has been worth it :cry2:

Hope to see some of you tomorrow. :h:
Any one else feel like that get barely any help/guidance/advice/support from their dissertation supervisor?! Grrr
Yes, I regularly felt like that. Still, I can't really complain, my housemate's supervisor went on sabbatical whilst they were writing their dissertations and they didn't get anyone else to help them instead. Madness.
I'm literally so tired I cried an hour ago - **** knows how I'm going to be after the results are announced.

I've got a nice purple shirt on tonight, though it looks black in the wrong light.
Yay! Simon won... WSA aren't happy but **** them, we want some NOC representation!
