MW3 was probably why all my lectures were all half-empty today.
I have no console, so I live game-less. (I don't want too many games on my laptop, because that would mean all my work-related software won't work. >.<)

Started the year as I mean to go on with a cheeky 92 in my first Advanced Differential Equations coursework (worth 15% of the module). :h:

I'm so glad to get constant updates of your module grades Marcus, thank you for sharing.

In other news, my last two days in this country for 13 months will be spent in Soton on the 16th-18th if anybody is around.

So glad I could bore you - I was just pleasantly surprised and delighted. :teeth:

Where are you going?
Got a graduate teaching job starting soon. In Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City. Doing my very own 1 year tour of nam, I'll hopefully be a bit more helpful than the Americans though.
I swear everyone's out teaching in East Asia - my old housemate and a guy I knew from Politics are out in China and Hong Kong respectively!
Guys is Orion's point good accommodation?
It's because there are no jobs here, whereas you can go to Asia, teach, live in amazing countries, save **** loads of money and have an adventure. Then come back to this country when there might be a chance in hell of finding a job!
My friend has also done this, she's loving it.

Speaking of which, can't decide what to do next year: do I apply for a demanding job that would be brilliant for the CV but could affect my YA Research Project or do I be a teaching assistant with 12 hours a week's work and plenty of time to travel + do the YARP?

EDIT: Both in Germany, job being in Stuttgart.

Honestly, have no idea!

All this living abroad for long periods of time sounds cool... I dunno if I could hack it though - being abroad for 2 months last year was quite depressing by the end with me just wanting to see people.

You should ask Jonny, I remember him talking about this. TA would clearly be the more 'fun' slash a bit of a doss, but would you get as much out of it academically as the other one? I know that sounds v serious and boring!

Yeah, can't help thinking I could do with a more fun year but the experience I would get from this job sounds like it would be invaluable to my graduate prospects. Ho hum. Meeting with my Academic Advisor tomorrow, hoping she will help me decide :s-smilie:

if you can find a placement, do that. i would always take an internship over a 12 hour a week jolly with the BC.
I'm going to bet it's got something to do with that rock that sounds like coming tonight or something.
To be fair, no geologist actually knows the formula for cummingtonite, they just know that when you have that on a shirt it's cummingtonite.
I wouldn't be surprised if Mike knew it, he's got a giant geek brain.
If mike in 4th year (the only undergrad geology mike I know) then yes, he does appear to know EVERYTHING! It's madness.
