Connaught suck tbfh (apart from there freshers football team, they got incredibly lucky with there freshers!)
Small Halls is where its at.
Agreed!
Whoever was asking about ensuite, it's not worth it. The ensuite showers are tiny in comparison to communal ones and when I was sharing a non-ensuite room I never had to queue once on a corridor with 15 people sharing 2 showers and a bath (I'm in Aubrey House, Highfield Halls). They're cleaned regularly (unlike ensuite showers where the onus is on you!) and cost a lot less.
This is going to sound like a daft question, but does the Hartley library actually have a fiction section (you know, for reading other than academic stuff! ) and if so, where is it?!
Not really but as a Southampton uni student you have automatic access to all public libraries in Southampton (there's one 2 mins walk from the uni on Burgess road and another on Portswood highstreet), just go in and set up the account, takes a minute, and your ID card also acts as a library card, you can search online on the database for any book you want to read and have it delivered to your preferred library for free if its in one you can't get to easily.
I sound like I work for them haha, it's a pretty cool system though, I used it a lot last year when I had more free time.

I wouldn't recommend going catered as a lot of my friends who are have realised its a rip off, especially considering if you had a night out, you'll probably miss breakfast. Enhanced rooms are pretty good and that's where i'm at. I pay £25 or so less a week than en suite and I share a shower between 7 of us and two toilets between 7 of us. The rooms are quite big and I have a windowsill that is ridiculous in size so I can sit on it with the window fully open (and when I say fully open I mean it's like there's no window there) and work with a breeze coming in on hot days like this week has been so far.
Wow, can't believe the new lot of freshers are going to take our place soon This year's gone really fast!
Library shuts at midnight normally, every night of the week.
Murray Building (computer room/tesseract area via the side entrance) is open 24 hours with ID card access, except 6pm Sunday night - 8.30am Monday morning when it is shut.
I've been torrenting for one day and already the uni has blocked all websites to do with torrenting in my flat Some people I know torrent all day and night onto many hard drives and it still works for them.
Is it illegal to torrent a film you already own a copy of back home?

Anyone wanna point out to me why I should firm soton over sheff? o and this is for mech eng thanks!
I'm doing mech eng!
With Southampton if you choose to do mech eng and are not happy with the choice you can switch to aero any time before the start of the second year. That's the main plus/positive of engineering at Southampton. If you have any questions about the course just quote me and ask and i'll be happy to answer.
Which ever way you look at it, what you study in your degree is going to be very similar between both unis. It comes down to which place would you rather stay at, Southampton or Sheffield.
So torrenting movies is illegal...I still don't care. I found a way round the block put in place and now I can start putting my entire home DVD collection onto my computers hard drive! I could just wait 4 days and rip the movies one by one onto my computer when I go home but this seems faster.
