Runs out at the end of June I believe. They put notices up around the bus stops nearer the time so check those out!
as long as your halls contract, so yeah, end of Junio
Does anyone know where exactly in building 58 the green room is where people can work and has the couches and other fin things in?

Yeah, you need to go in the back of it (by maths building) and then go to the right where the computer rooms are. The green squishy room is to the right in there (it's green and squishy - you can't miss it!)
It's called the 'Tesseract', and it's right near the computer rooms on the ground floor.

They aren't 'couches' as such, but it's pretty nice in there.
Thanks! I'd rep but already done so in another post recently apparently.

Me and a friend were looking for it and kept asking staff and the best we could come up with was 'green room'. They just gave us blank faces

So, how was everyone's holiday?

I wouldn't recommend going catered as a lot of my friends who are have realised its a rip off, especially considering if you had a night out, you'll probably miss breakfast. Enhanced rooms are pretty good and that's where i'm at. I pay £25 or so less a week than en suite and I share a shower between 7 of us and two toilets between 7 of us. The rooms are quite big and I have a windowsill that is ridiculous in size so I can sit on it with the window fully open (and when I say fully open I mean it's like there's no window there) and work with a breeze coming in on hot days like this week has been so far.

Wow, can't believe the new lot of freshers are going to take our place soon :frown: This year's gone really fast!

Hi, I am thinking of applying for an enhanced room as well. When you say you share with 7 people, do you share a bathroom, (i.e. 2 or 3 showers with 7 people), or only one shower with 7 people.

From what i have been told and seen is that in a normal room you share a bathroom, (consisting of 2 or 3 showers), with around 10-14 people.
Therefore does enhanced mean, this goes down to less than 7?

Thanks

1 shower between 7 of us and 2 toilets.

It's essentially a 7 bedroom flat with one communal shower and 2 toilets (1 is in the same room as the shower and the other is in it's own room). You share a kitchen between the seven of you. Each person has their own upper cupboard and lower cupboard in the kitchen assigned to them which has your flat letter on (A-G).

The main advantage of an enhanced room over a normal room is you share your kitchen with only 6 others (7 including yourself).

Okay thanks.

I went to view glen eyre accomodation and the bathroom there had 3 showers and 4 toilets, and i was told it was shared by around 12 people, (essentially meaning 4 people per shower). Therefore i thought enhanced would mean that this ratio would decrease? Looks like that is not the case.

Thanks Anywayz

Also do you know much about highfield hall? I was thinking of applying there as my first/second choice and then looking at glen eyre and connaught for my lower choices.
£50 for Pixie Lott and an assortment of other equally as **** performers playing in Oceana... ooh, I'm so excited about grad ball. :|
Got my ticket. :h:
Don't know whether to go or not. 50 quid is a ****ing lot of money
It was a lot worse value last year IMO, with Tinchy Stryder making a brief cameo rather than a full set.
Yeah but if you're not interested in the headliners (and I can honestly say that I couldn't give a damn about any of them) then £50 for a night out in Oceana with your friends isn't that great. I'm honestly only going because it's my only grad ball and it's just one of those things to tick off the list. I wish we could go back to the days when we could get feeder or someone like that playing.

I don't understand why they've not thought of holding it actually on campus... they could have the cube as one room, the west ref and the bridge as another and then the cafes/bars decorated and a little bit more laid back and also stuff in the gardens etc.. I think it would be quite nice... I envisage lots of fairy lights.
Fair enough, but at the end of the day they can't appeal to everyone, and many of my friends from last year wish they were graduating this time round because Pixie's playing.

It's luck of the draw really.

I actually wanted to go last year (but couldn't because I was still very much on crutches and wouldn't have been in a great mood), and was glad when people came and told me how crap Stryder was (who I'd wanted to see).

I agree, especially because for me, the idea of a grad ball in a venue that I never went to as a student because it was overpriced and ****ty doesn't make much sense. Although of course there are restrictions on venue due to capacity etc.

They did think of that, but it was heavily protested against, and it would have had to be two nights, rather than everyone going to one.

I agree with you, IF I go, it will only be because this is my Grad Ball. For a start, Pixie Lott performed a free concert in Sheffield that I went to last summer, so even if I didn't already find her awfully irritating, I wouldn't be interested in going!

The whole point of it being Oceana this year was APPARENTLY so it would be cheaper for us all. £49 is not cheap. Ms Lott will play a 15 minute set, and we all know from last year's debacle that we will have to pay for nearly all the attractions in the fun fair.. I think they have made a bit of an error this year, holding it in a venue we all know (and generally dislike), and still keeping the prices pretty damn high. I wanted my boyfriend to come, as it's his 21st, but £100 for us both? I am not rich.

It has put me in a difficult position! I went to last year's GB, and LOVED it, because all my friends were there and I got to say hello and goodbye. This year, I hardly know anyone, I dislike Oceana, I can't afford to spend hundreds on a night out and everything is telling me it's a bad idea. But.. Can I miss my own GB!? I'm so confused :frown:

It's been confirmed she's playing a 40-minute set. What exactly that will constitute remains to be seen.
