How many moles of water are in 300g of hydrated magnesium sulfate(VI) (MgSO4.7H2O)

There are multiple ways you can do this.

One way would be to first find how much of the 300 grams is water. Then simply use n = mass / molar mass to find the number of moles of water.

weigh a sample of the hydrated compound.

Then put it in an oven and weigh again.

workout the mass of water evaporated. divide by 18, Mr of water.
do the same for the mass of anhydrous magnesium sulfate
