your not on a completely different level. last season you finished 5 points ahead of us and this season, with all our injuries, we had one bad season. Even after that, we have won more trophies in the past 2 seasons than arteta has his whole managerial career at arsenal

When your player of the season is the likes of Dalot, Mainoo and Garnacho.. then I think Zurich is fair in saying Arsenal are on a different level.

I look through that Man Utd squad list and it looks very much like a mid-table side. So finishing 8th with a negative goal difference sounds about right.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Against man city where previously we would have got battered 5-0?

these players would get into man city's starting 11 - I was about to say Liverpool, but ur not on the same level as city. Dalot can play pep's system and could replace walker if he was at city, pep has already said how mainoo is a really good player and Garna is good enough for anyone's team. I sense sourness from someone because they don't have these players.

Was this the broken clock you were on about? Remember arteta's first 2 seasons? in a few years, we will be up there

Just to reiterate, Ten Haag is not in his first job, he's been managing for well over a decade. What you are saying is like me bragging that I was dominating the interns over the summer holidays when I have years of experience. Secondly, I'm not even Arteta's biggest fan but at least you can identify patterns of play and say "ok I can see what he wants to do basically" whereas with Ten Hag you have no idea what he does on the training pitch, as pretty much every pundit regularly states.

Why am I even debating here ffs, you're just in denial or some other ********

I think it's absolutely fantastic if you keep him again for the year, you'll finish like 7th again. I think you will sack him, he's just average.

Why do you guys keep arguing with these troll Man United fans for?
But one thing that's true is that Man United had a horrific amount of injuries in the second half of the season. They had less earlier on and there's no excuse for finishing bottom of their Champions League group, but if you're playing Evans and Casimero at centre back because Martinez, Varane, Maguie are all injured then that's just extremely unlucky.
Remember Arsenal crumbled when Saliba got injured for a couple of games in 2022/23.

Saliba is probably going to be an all time great, so that's understandable.

Utd complaining about injuries to shite, compeltely average players is not comparible.

You can't play your style of football if there are so many injuries forcing you to play 3/4 choice CBs or LBs who can't play your style. You then have to implement another style of play for the whole team, and when your 1st choice players come back after a few weeks, another style of play is needed again. It is inconvenient to the players and managers. Don't forget that at one point, for about a month, we were playing with 3rd choice CB and 5th-choice LB. What I love about Arsenal is that they would complain left, right and centre if they were in our position. Remember a few seasons ago when you finished 8th?

You must be trolling too. If you're missing your first 3/4 choice centre backs you're going to be in a horrible situation.
Whether you like it or not in the last two seasons Man United have won 2 trophies and Arsenal have won 0. Arsenal are in a better position but they have nothing to show for it.

What team do you support? you speak more sense than any Arsenal fans out there.

We had plenty of injuries in the first half as well - Hojlund, Maguire (when he was fit, he was our best CB and he got multiple injuries for champions league games against Bayern and Copenhagen), Licha (our best CB), Mainoo (although that was probably a good thing), AWB (meaning dalot had to play RB whilst Amrabat played LB when reguilon, malacia and shaw were injured). Varane also had many injury problems. Dont forget that Mount was also injured at the beginning of the season, which impacted the rest of his season. Rashford had a period out injured as well. It is unfair to say utd didn't have many injuries at the beginning.
Arsenal meanwhile have had virtually the same CB partnership all season apart from when Arteta intentionally dropped Gabriel, when fit.

I am being completely blunt here, but these injured players are completely average to ****. Because your entire team is full of completely average to **** players.

They were misses but even with a 100% fit squad you'd have got maybe 5th, congrats.

Your comment proves my point about the broken clock.. you got lucky in one final but lost twice to Man City and twice to Arsenal in the league.

 And who exactly would Dalot, Mainoo and Garnacho be replacing in Man City's starting XI?

Dalot is better than Walker? Mainoo better than Rodri? Garnacho better than Doku/Foden/Grealish? (or whoever you want to compare him to).

Once ETH gets sacked, I'm not sure the new manager will even know where to start. Basically need to clear out 75% of the Man Utd squad and start again.

it's not lucky that we played well against Arsenal in the last game we played against them, it's not lucky that ETH has now beaten City twice in his first 2 seasons - something so many teams can't even do, it's not lucky that ETH has only lost to Liverpool once in 2 years.

You are completely biased if you think Garnacho is not better than Man City Grealish (not Aston Villa Grealish, they are completely different players) or Doku (who is a one-trick pony and isn't even that good).
I am not saying Dalot is better than Walker, what I am saying is that Dalot would provide more competition to Walker than any other player. in a couple of years when Walker goes, Dalot would be good enough to fill that role.
Mainoo can replace Kovacic and you know that. That other CDM role is perfect for a player like Mainoo. Pep even admitted that he would want Kobbie in his team.

Only a sour fan can't admit the truth that UTD's youngsters are good and UTD can turn up in big games:

Man Utd 2 - 1 Liverpool - 3rd game in charge after getting battered twice

Man Utd 3 - 1 Arsenal - 3 games after Liverpool game against the title challengers

Man Utd 2 - 1 Man City - January in the league - City always turn up after December and we beat them

Man Utd 2 - 2 Barcelona - Hard game for any team

Man Utd 2 - 1 Barcelona - 2 games later and we beat them

Man Utd 2 - 0 Newcastle - Carabou Cup final against best defence in England and played them out the park

Beat an in form Brighton on pens to reach FA Cup final

Done the double over Aston Villa

Ended your FA cup hopes

Ended your Premier League hopes

Ended City's double-double hopes

Hope that explains why ETH hasn't got lucky wins.

Cool story bro.

You still finished 4th in CL group and 8th in the league with negative GD.

You didn't even manage to win half your league games this season.

If your players are only showing up for big games then either your manager is crap or your very average players don't respect him enough to put 100% in every game.

All this while you have one of the biggest spends and wage bills in the world..

Man Utd thread for the 2024-25 season is here.
What do you think are the aims for next season?
Will we challenge for Europa League or FA Cup?
Will Bruno leave us?
Will ETH stay with us?
Will Garna, Mainoo, Amad and Hojlund still be firing?
Will we get new defenders?
There are so many questions still yet to be answered following this season.

1.

Top 4 Finish. 3rd or 4th.

2.

Europa League provides us a chance with another way into Champions League Football. So thankfully we have 2 options and 2 routes. I reckon we can win the Europa League. Whilst being able to defend our FA Cup. Dependent on the run.

3.

Speculation. 29 years old, club captain existing contract ends 2026 wants to be among the high earners can’t see him leave, won’t see him leave probably will if Erik Ten Hag goes. Because of project direction and his ambitions.

4.

It’s a hard one to tell on this next season his 3rd and final season of his contract if Ineos had self belief in him and his and this project they’d offer new terms probably give him the whole of next season with an injury free squad see how he manages at this minute it’s 50/50. Trophy definitely saved the season but priority was champions league football with silverware.

5.

The club is always about youth clearly the team is being built around youth, and oversea talent. Yep I see that happening. I see Amad pocketing Antony over the RW spot unless someone like Olise comes…

6.

Yeah definitely a priority position we need a right footed centre back capable of playing Raphael Varane position huge loss and big miss. We need a back up to Lisandro Martinez so a left footed centre back I think it’s a race between Todibo and Branthwaite. Left footed centre back I’m unsure. I see Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof leaving. Lindelof in his final year of his contract let’s see if we can get £10,000,000 or even £15,000,000 out of his sale even £20,000,000 and if we are serious about a rebuild then these are the players that need to go. I reckon Jonny Evans will stay on alright as a backup but his experience and leadership is key and bought calmness and stability and solidity to the team and defence when he played. Definitely need a Left Back. Luke Shaw injury prone a world class baller but injury prone, I want to promote and develop Harry Amass alright he’s 16 but he seems a baller and a talent as for Malacia I don’t trust the guy went a whole season without playing or training, I definitely see us getting a Right Back maybe. If Aaron Wan Bissaka goes.

7.

That you are correct starting with the summer clear out who’s making the exit first and for how much…?

I'd rather have Kounde over Branthwaite. Kounde has UCL experience, big games experience and has been in the game a lot longer. He is also nearly half the price of Branthwaite and is in a team that need money as much as Everton.

Not a fan of Kounde we wanted him in his Sevilla days he chose Barca over us.

@hh1209 must be delighted by the news..

Erik ten Hag will remain as manager of Manchester United following a post-season review by the club's board.

It is understood they are now talking to Ten Hag about extending his contract, which is about to enter its final season.
