Hello,

It's great to hear you have made Northumbria your first choice- we can't wait to meet you and welcome you into the Northumbria Community. Here at Northumbria we are committed to providing a welcoming environment, where diversity is valued and encouraged. Northumbria is a member of the Race Equality Charter, which aims to improve the representation, progression and success of Black, Asian and other Minority Ethnic (BAME) staff and students within higher education. Therefore, we are always actively seeking ways we can improve our outreach and represent different communities within our student body.

In terms of Newcastle itself, there is a continuously rising BAME population, which currently stands around 11% for total population and rises to 24% among school-age children.

We hope this helps and let us know if you have any further questions!
