I tried to apply for a student account with Barclays the other day to find out that I need to wait until my place is confirmed by my Uni of choice, which means waiting until my results come through in August. Does this mean I need to wait until after results day before I can apply for Student Finance?

Usually, in order for Student Finance to send the the tuition fee loan to your university of choice, you have to be registered at the university. However, if you have a confirmed place (for example a conditional place) you should still be able to apply for Student Finance without needing to wait until results day. I am not sure what Barclays' terms and conditions are regarding opening a student account though.

Student finance doesn't need a student account- it just needs a bank account in your name. Once you get your confirmation of place on results day then you can apply for a student account or convert your existing account into a student one and then update the bank info with sfe
