Hi, I’m thinking about making an application for the MSc Mathematical Biology course and I’d like to know if anyone has any experience of doing this course? If not, does anyone have any general experience with the maths department as a whole? Were the lecturers good, did you feel supported throughout the course, did you feel supported to apply for jobs/PhDs, and were you successfully able to get jobs/PhDs?

My reservation is that because St Andrews isn’t a Russell group and doesn’t have the research power and status of places like UCL and Edinburgh (I have offers for both), I won’t be as competitive in the job and PhD market? But they do seem to have good research in areas ecological statistics and mathematical biology so does this compensate if you want to go down these paths?
