Exactly my thinking. Just a pain to fill everything in!

Am I the only one who has problems with bugging his referees?

Not at all, I've had the same problem. Although, since Oxford was unique in requesting 3 I was able to divide the others a little, which helped a tiny bit.

I know what you mean! You organise, pay for and send your online application and then you sit and wait for about 4 weeks while your referees get their act together. And then, you feel bad for repeatedly emailing...

Isn't there actually a function on the online form which allows you to resend the reminder email (so it doesn't look as though it's you who's pestering them)?

Yea, I thought that was useful but I went with it once and it hasn't, as yet, worked (at least for one referee). I might try it again this morning though. It is certainly preferable to grovelling emails, lol.

with the paper application it says you have to send a self addressed postcard to get a confirmation, do they just mean a notmal touristy postcard or whatever? :o:

Yes, as long as your address is on it, it can be as cringeworthy as you like.

Why not just phone them or, if you can, go in and visit them?

Previously, I've rung and not been able to get through so I had lost hope with that method. Today appears to be my lucky day though. Everythings sorted, thanks!
All my references have been done so now the waiting begins *twiddles thumbs*

I'm not replying to your original question, but I just thought I'd let you know that Christ Church don't seem to be too keen on taking postgrads. Last year, I know around 4 people on TSR (including Angelil I believe) who applied to Christ Church for postgrad and got rejected straight away. I chose Christ Church as my first choice college and they rejected me surprisingly quickly which is strange considering that:

1) I've applied early (before the first deadline)
2) One of the course lecturers for my masters stays at Christ Church and has exactly the same research interests as me.
3) I'm a ******* great student with good grades! :p:

Feel free to ignore what I said, just thought I'd let you know about the infamous rep they have with postgrads...I'm now being considered by New.

Good luck with your application!

I didn't choose ChCh in the end anyway

Wondering whether anyone had any thoughts on applying to an all grad vs. undergrad/grad college?

While I know that the mixed colleges tend to be alot wealthier, more fun and lively, and more aestically attractive, being that I am 27, I could not really imagine having too much in common with 18 year olds who are just starting their studies.

What is everyone else applying to?
Have you already checked the list of colleges that will admit graduate students on your course? That cuts it down quite a bit - I could only choose from about 6.

I did put ChCh for second college choice. I guess no chance to get in. But you never know.
Hi all,

Just wondering - is anyone else applying for AHRC funding for a taught masters? If yes, what are the main differences between your statement of purpose and AHRC case for support? I know the latter is meant to be based on the former but it seems lazy to just submit the same for both!

I'm quite a bit older than you and have decided not to choose Harris Manchester or grad-only colleges. Average ages there (25ish) are still much younger than me so since I'd be unlikely anyway to find people of my age there, I've decided to make my choice using other criteria. But I've been in touch with some grads from my fave (mixed, older) colleges and there are certainly students in their late 20s, mid-late 30s and even a couple in their 40s and 50s. But at 27 I wouldn't worry, you'll be very close in age to most grad students at any college.
I still haven't made my final college choice though at ca. 48 hours and counting...
