I love that everyone hear is neurotic like and thinks about envelope shapes as much as I do. It makes me feel normal, even as I am trying to distract myself by singing the entire OST of The Sound of Music. Ho-ho-le-odlei-ho everyone!

anyone else thinking of emailing/calling the english office now that it's wednesday pm and they may have had their meeting........... soooo tempting........:eek4: :eek3:
I'll call tomorrow. I really need to know because besides driving me insane, I need to stop accepting arbitrary offers from other Unis and start zeroing in on one. It takes ages to work out loans, transcripts and what-not in India.

Awww man, my Sound of Music soundtrack is at home :frown: Not even got any Disney songs on my macbook either :frown:

I'm not neurotic honest :woo:  Just want the letter now :banghead: Think the people where our uni post is held think I'm a total nutter as I'm checking my post twice a day at the moment and HAVE to keep walking past the same people

It's all about obsessing over envelope sizes!

I got overly excited by a chunky envelope in my mailbox yesterday, only to discover it was a big council tax bill. I don't think I've ever been so disappointed.

Don't bother obsessing about that. It'll be exactly the same type of envelope regardless of the outcome. The only difference is that offer letters may contain some information about funding, but that's only one extra sheet or so, so the letter will be thin either way.

Honestly, the envelope will tell you nothing. It's all about stamp angles...:ninja:
Im starting to freak out here, if we are supposed to know by the end of the week, I keep refreshing my emails all the time, nearly want to run to the postman before he even gets to my house n feel like I cannot do anything until I get the offer/rejection :-(

oh dear! they sent them already? does that mean rejection? because as far as i understand, they send an email and a letter to accepted applicants, and a snail mail letter to, well, everyone else ... :frown:

Not necessarily. I know someone who got an offer last year without an email. Probably fine email's used more for international students as it's a way of guaranteeing someone will get the news, rather than relying on snail mail.

Wow glad you mentioned that. If not I'd probably have burnt it had I received a thin piece of letter lol. I always thought the funding information would come in the form of borchures etc., making the letter a bit bulkier.

I applied by the 23 Jan deadline, but haven't heard a word from them yet. Is this unusual?

Maybe a DPhil takes longer?
