I just called the Development Studies dept and was told they are sending out emails today, over the weekend and up until Monday, with letters to follow. She didn't seem very enthused to tell me over the phone, so I didn't push it. This wait is not fun by any means.

yeah iv phoned twice an they dont say anything over the phone:s-smilie: oh god, emails today?!:frown: im so scared, probably more than i was for undergrad:rolleyes:

Calm down, guys. You've been waiting for nearly two months - a few more hours won't kill you.

I had an e-mail today from Oxford.I was rejected for Msc Mathematical Modeling and Scientific Computing. I expected that since the interview was bad:smile: I dont mind cause I had an offer from Cambridge!

Congrats and commiserations as appropriate. I know how you guys feel - I waited ages for Oxford to get back to me (applied end of Nov 06, got my offer on March 1st 07) and all I could think was 'ffs, if you're going to reject me just do it already!' (I'd already been rejected from Cambridge so was feeling especially paranoid.) Hang in there...

I received an offer from St Hilda's this morning but actually do not want to go there.

The postgraduate administrator told me in February that she would forward my application to the colleges I named. Is this to late now? The website says that I must accept an offer made by any college otherwise I reject the offer for the degree.

Any thoughts?

Do you actually have any good reasons for not wanting to go to St Hilda's? It is mixed sex now you know and it's not that far from things, especially on a bike. I was at another noncentral college (LMH) and it was never a problem.

This waiting is simply adding to the exciting weekend I already have writing 2 dissertations... Sigh...

I just prefer colleges like Hertford, Brasenose and Worcester. The college grounds look much more attractive than St Hilda's and especially Hertford and Brasenose are right in the centre of the town.

You know you wouldn't actually live in college as a post-grad, right? Hertford's Folly Bridge accomm. isn't much nearer to the centre of town than St Hilda's.

I know that I do not live there. Just liked the idea of being part of a college that has really nice buildings / hall etc. I know it does not impact on my academic work at all.

Do you think I can change the offer in any way?
Reply 955
Nope, unless you can find a pressing reason - need for couples/family accomm., have a disability that means you have to be central - you're stuck with Hilda's.

Look, too late for this sort of 'Oh Mother, I just want to be in beautiful environs, is that too much to bloody ask?!' private school undergraduate nonsense. Get your arse to Hilda's, sharpish. Get! Get! Get!

I went to a rubbish state school.

My school and uni buildings were absolutely horrible 70s concrete brutalo architecture. I think I have been traumatised and just long for beautiful old college grounds. I know, a bit over the top.
Pelle, I'm afraid there is nothing you can do at this stage. Your application once accepted was offered first to the colleges you named. When they didn't take you, it became a free-for-all.
