Why don't you just ring or email them?
ufff the waiting is awful :afraid:
I would call/email the dept., but I already called them last Thursday and they said it would be sometime this week by post and email, so I feel like I'd be hassling them if I phoned back again. So bloody British :p:

I've been accepted on to the English MSt. They emailed me today to inform me, and said a letter has been dispatched.

Sorry to those who did not get in, but I'm sure things will work out for you all. I was really prepared to get rejected because the smartest person I know was turned down. So admission is not only competitive but perhaps a little arbitrary.
I just got an email back "We intend to offer you a place. Best," That was it, wahoooooooooo.
nice one!
Hi guys,

Following a previous letter telling me I got rejected for MPhil in International Relations, today I got another letter giving me an "unconditional" offer for the same course. :s-smilie:

Which, of course, is terrifyingly weird. I wasn't planning to take the offer anyway as I got an offer for MSc in IR at the LSE with some funding, but I'm still rather puzzled by the whole rejection-acceptance thing, plus the fact that it was an unconditional offer because I'm just finishing my undergraduate degree now.

Anyway, I'm thinking I will turn Oxford down unless they offer me ERSC funding. It's hideously competitive, but I do wonder if I have a chance.

What period did you apply to?

I applied for an Mst in English 1900-present and haven't heard yet... I can't stop thinking about it, I'm terrified...

You can probably email or call the department (Shaun Darby). I found on out on the phone last week without even meaning to...I called to give a new address.

Too scared - and too much of a coward. Did you apply to the same period?
I'm visiting in Oxford for a year so I'm in town now and can't face the prospect of going back (to Paris, I'm French). It's weird, I think I've never wanted anything that bad... Gah!

I applied to the 650-1550 strand. Good luck! Worst case scenario is living in Paris? People would die for your choices, my friend. :p:

Thanks! Not sure about this though, try studying English with people who are self-centered enough to actually think there is a French school of English studies... The English dept in La Sorbonne is depressing. Well done on the place!
Could I ask a question to the people here that have been given offers?

I got my offer letter today. It reads "This offer is not subject to any academic conditions but plese confirm if you wish to accept this offer or not by 15 June 2009."

I want to know wheather this is normal. How can it not be subject to any academic conditions? (I'm currently doing my undergrad degree, so could potentially end up with anything: 2;ii, 2;i etc.)

Have other people been given this sort of offer? And if so what programmes have applied for?

Mine is MPhil in International Relations.

Thanks everyone!

Hey! I've received a letter similar to yours, the only differences are that I have to confirm by the 3rd of July and that it's MPhil Economics and not International Relations. It is normal, you have received an unconditional offer, so be happy with it

My letter doesn't state any conditions nor does it contain a deadline for conformation. I guess some extra material (college, finance, etc) will be forthcoming in the next few weeks.
