Does anyone know anything about the Msc management research at oxford? Out of all the candidates interviewed, approximately what percentage actually receive an offer in the end? Thanks!!

Hi there!

I got an offer from Wadham College, I'm Italian and will attend the MPhil Economics.
There are two options (well, two preferences to give) for accomodation: College or Merifield apartments (Summertown, North Oxford, 5-10 min by bike from the centre).
College is in the centre and they give you dinner, but Merifield looks cool and spacious and you share a flat with 3 or 4 students, which could be an experience! And there's a sports centre right in the front!
I don't know, I think I might try College anyway and then see, but if any of you has an idea, please tell it!!!!
Ciao!

Since I seem to be unable to send PMs...

Merifield is a stiff 20 min walk from Wadham, let alone the social aspects of Oxford (ie clubs and pubs), and there's nothing but departments and colleges on the walk Wadham - Merifield. Not good as a lone female walking home at night (sorry, don't know what sex you are). The bus service back to Merifield is also very poor late at night.

You will be living in Merifield (or Merryworld, as it's fondly known) as a 2nd year grad (when you'll get to choose your flatmates!), take the chance to live in, and be close to the lovely new MCR, the Hall, Lodge and library while you can. The sports centre at Merifield is the Marston Ferry Pool, NOT the University Gym, which is another 20 mins walk from Wadham in the opposite direction, and where most (all?) university sports teams train. College is also closer to the Social Sciences library, which is conveniently next to the Economics department! A 2 min stroll to lectures/classes beats a 10 min cycle, especially in Hilary (in the snow/ice/sleet) or early Trinity (rain!).

I will now go back to Finals revision and stop being naughty :ninja: 11 days til I start exams :bawling:

anybody heard from their departments regarding admission?

My application was unsuccessful :frown:

LSE's International Relations Program isn't far behind from Oxford's... So I guess I'll go for that now.

What about you?

Just curious, is St. Hugh's College closer to the centre than Merifield or further? I'm know I can easily check a Google map, but the internet here is so slow... :frown:

Closer, although only by 5 mins on foot, I'd say.
Hertford is a great college! It is central in location (right next to the Bodlein and very close to the Social Science Library besides being close to the middle of town), has a decent library, ok food (which is a pretty good standard for Oxford school food), and a great bar (the dark pango) ^_~ It's not the prettiest college but it is certainly not the ugliest too. The bridge of sighs is there. It's also not too snobby well in comparison to the Oxford college I did my study abroad. My best friend over there was at Hertford so I pretty much stayed at her college.

As to someone else asking, I got into St. Antony's too! Whoohoo!
Anyone know much about St. John's? Grad accommodations, atmosphere, etc? Just accepted their offer...Thanks!

Not yet! My concerned department is Economics and they have not yet mailed me the outcome of the application. It is so annoying, the deadline was 15th and it is already 19th!! Anyway, there is no option other than being patient. Hope to hear from them today.

Congratulations!

What course are you going to be doing? are you at uni doing an undergraduate degree at the moment?

Congrats to you too!

I'll be doing a MSt Women's studies - I graduated with a BA English last summer.

What will you be studying? Are you looking to stay in college? Just had a peek at pics of the Brideshead/Waugh party on the MCR website...looked like a good laugh!
Has anyone applied for accommodation at St Cross?
