Hi guys. Are there still lots of people from the March gathered field waiting for a college (like me)? Or do most of you already know?

I was a March gathering field and I have no idea. But I hope that it is soon. I need loans and I can only apply for USA federal loans once a college accepts me. So I am on pins and needles now...

I applied in January, received an offer mid-May, and have heard nothing yet about colleges. I feel like my life is on hold. :-(

Mid-May is only a few weeks ago, you could be waiting til at least mid-July, a month is nothing. My friend heard in January and didn't get his college place until May. What are your choices?

Would New and Lincoln have a high possibility of being crowded now?

I got a college offer this weekend (I was January gathered field, got my offer from sociology dept in May) - I got my first choice, Nuffield.

anyone here going to be at Nuffield? or doing sociology?

my choices were lincoln and trinity, phoned dept yesterday, both are already full.
i got my offer for dev studies months ago but still no college placement. i got rejected by my first choice but don't know about anywhere else. i just got a fellowship to cover most if not all of my expenses but i need to submit a form within the next week. i just called my department but apparently i have to wait for a college before i can fill in the expenses. i would have thought getting money would help with the college placement but apparently not. worse, i don't have anyone to fill out my form to the foundation...which I have to send within the next week. i am going to talk to the foundation when the sun shines here but this is kind of annoying. maybe i should screw the "distance from the department" issue and ask wolfson to change my program (accepted for another one) and go there. it is so far away but i might not have a choice. any suggestions?

EDIT: I just found out that I got into St Cross...any inside information on the college?

Lincoln is already full?! :frown: Would there be a possibility that they've stopped taking in students from a certain department but not for those from another department?

lincoln was my second choice but they didn't even send my application there so it is full for at least development studies.

All the colleges do have departmental quotas - I wonder if they split PGR and PGT as well?
I have been accepted by Lincoln and have regural contact with the administration, I was told they were literally flooded with students, so I assume they are full.

anyone here going to Balliol? Hollywell looks awesome!
ok so i am freaking out about st cross now: it doesn't have regular evening meals (have to go to Balliol and pay cash on most nights). It seems highly unlikely that they will have uni accommodation for me either...very few rooms available. because the college is small, no playing facilities either (I really would have liked access to a squash court, at least).

I got into wolfson much earlier for another program but was still looking for funding then so didn't ask my other program to directly transfer me. Now that I have been placed at Cross, do you think I could ask to be changed to Wolfson coz they accepted me first anyways and Cross isn't giving me any money either? Wolfson is much bigger, college meals and good facilities. The drawback is its location, as it really is very far away.

Now I am really confused and don't know whether I should even bother or just accept Cross. Any help? Please let me know....

Thanks!
Hey all,
I just emailed the politics graduate secretary on info on Jesus and Merton. Yes, I know we have decided Merton is full, but I hope to get answers on Jesus. I'll keep everyone updated if I hear anything (or how this whole process is working).

Wolfson's not that far - I was at LMH, which is just down the road, and never had any huge problems with distance from the centre. You could always try asking

Thanks Angelil. I was actually at LMH for a year last year as well. I am just worried about Iffley, which is so so far away and I go there to play ping pong three times a week. As I said, I was also looking for another college still for funding and so don't know if they will let me change back to Wolfson now that I am not so sure about St Cross, particularly accommodation and food. I will call Wolfson tomorrow, as I feel they will be able to best tell me if I can switch to Wolfson for the other program.

Anyone with any info on St Cross, particularly about food and accommodation?

If you get a bike, you'll be able to speed to Iffley (and anywhere else) quickly enough.

I will heed your advice Athena. I called the ST at Wolfson and he said it shouldn't be a problem switching to Wolfson from St Cross so I should be set. Thanks for your help!
Jesus and Merton = both full according to the Politics graduate secretary.

I'm under consideration by St. Cross. Not overly thrilled, but it's better than nothing.

Who wants to help an American who knows next to nothing about the layout of Oxford with where ST. Cross is and what type of place it would be like?
St Cross is along St Giles, on the right-hand side, as you're walking towards all the shops and things (rather than away from them/going towards Jericho, LMH, Wolfson etc), so it's excellently situated. Can't say I know much about the college though.
