I don't have the mark scheme for this but i got Mg(NO3)2.6H20 as my answer. Is this correct?

Looks correct.

0.174/58.3 = 2.984 x 10^-3 moles of Mg(OH)2

1:1 ratio - meaning

0.765/ 2.984x 10^-3 = 256.318 gmol^-1

then simply 256.318 - Mg(NO3)2 = 108

108 = XH2O

thus X is 6.
