A compound bar consists of a steel bar 0.80 metres and a diameter of 25mm, to which is brazed a copper tube of length 0.46 metres and has an outer diameter of 26mm and an inner diameter of 22mm.

If the bar carries a tensile load of 43kN, determine the:
Stress in each material



The extension in each material



The overall change of length.


For steel E=220GN/m2
For copper E=115GN/m2
