i think the fact that it isn't standardised across the whole country and I go to a grammar school so competition is high and it's gonna be hard to probably even get a 7 so yeah I'm stressed

Tbh no because every school is doing it differently. Some colleges may or may not be telling the kids the questions on the exams 🙂... therefore it’ll be easier for some.

yeah i guess but it would be good if we had the same assessments in a way

I think even within my college and across the 3 courses, there is a difference in how much information we receive prior to exams which has been tough. So I dread to think about the obvious differences across the country

I'm in a neutral position here. The grades will be decided by the teachers and their marks will be final. Nothing to say. If the same exam sat under exam conditions, then the ability will be properly justified. As some verifications are still required, whether teachers fairly gave the grades or not.

many of my teachers just didn't know how to teach online, so i feel like if I were actually taught the topics, instead of teaching myself the entire year, I could actually have a chance

personally, i think across different schools the results will be really varied and not fair!! it really depends on what school you go to and what they have done in terms of internal exams. My school handled it quite well as we did mocks, then topic tests, and a set of 'real' exams. They reduced so much content and told us the list of topics, although there still lots to revise. However, other schools have been more lenient or even harsher, therefore the grades can't be the same. Also, different schools are giving different exam papers so IDK about grade boundaries. My school is a top-performing grammar school and I hope they give out fair grades as I'm guessing the grade boundaries will be very high.

In our year group we had a couple of issues, one of them being a year 13 girl walked out of her chemistry paper 1 - due to other reasons and she was then allowed to resit her paper. Obviously, other students felt that this was unfair (esp when in school we're getting ranked against each other) and that they themselves should also get the opportunity to resit - Was a massive fiasco at my school and so they then moved the exams to the halls

There's also a lot of cheating, not that I'm aware of in my year group but my sister who is doing GCSE's was saying how lots of people are cheating in some shape or form and even if you get caught its not as harsh as it would be in the real exams

Unconscious bias also plays a massive role

Different schools are testing students like 9 papers per subject whilst some schools are only doing 3 papers per subject - The government should have outlined a strict standardisation procedure

I think also that teachers and students needed more time like everything seems so last minute and so chaotic

I feel like my scores on papers will be fair and that my teachers will try to be fair but that overall no one's grades will really be 'fair' this year.
Yes even in a normal year there are massive differences in the quality of education different schools provide and that affects the grades their students may achieve, but the past 2 years have been worse. Some schools have adapted to teaching differently whereas others have failed their students completely.
I hope that there are no claims that it was a level playing field when it definitely wasn't. My school used the resources provided by the exam boards and I revised all the questions provided but it was really disheartening when I heard people in my class saying they'd also accessed the mark scheme.

People have been coming on here asking for the paper's for each year too whereas if they were smart enough, they would be able to work out that the order the exam boards put the questions on the resources they provided is the order of each year ( Edexcel A Level geography was easy to work out ). The fact that so many people have been asking shows that there is also probably a high number of people who have cheated this year and they can't even be bothered to be discreet about it.

My school told us the topics beforehand and because of this many people did very well in the test because they knew what to revise for and plus the mocks exams were only about out of 40 marks the main mock exam we did ending was out of 62 marks. Many people did so well in the mocks and assessments that they increased the grade boundaries based on the year groups performance. So for me I got 62% percent in chemistry for my mock but that ended up being a 4 because many people did well in the mocks so grade boundaries went up.
