Law LLB

Heyy,

I’m considering changing my course from law llb to something similar. Does anyone know any similar courses to law? I’m thinking of applying to Queen Mary to do something similar to law? Any ideas

Criminology could be an option, if you like the criminal aspect of law!

Yes, I was considering that! , unfortunately queen mary doesn’t offer it though:frown:
Are you already holding an offer at QMUL? You need to look at the courses QMUL actually offers if you are trying to do a course switch ie.
Politics and Sociology https://www.qmul.ac.uk/undergraduate/coursefinder/courses/2021/politics-and-sociology/
Politics and IR https://www.qmul.ac.uk/undergraduate/coursefinder/courses/2021/politics-and-international-relations/

Hey there @S12356,

Queen Mary's law school and other schools at Queen Mary offer a variety of different courses in subjects related to law, with law, and without it! And taking on a different degree doesn't hinder your chances of entering law after graduating in the UK either as you can always take the one year Graduate Diploma in Law to make you eligible for all the opportunities those who took law are eligible for.

If you're looking to combine law with another degree, you can take courses such as:
Business with Law
Law with Business
Law and Politics

These are all dual programmes that will allow you to get a taste of both disciplines! You can find more information on the undergraduate law course page: https://www.qmul.ac.uk/law/undergraduate/courses/.

That said, a lot of similar courses, as has been noted, are also offered at Queen Mary - courses in politics, history, international relations, economics, and sociology are all on offer at Queen Mary, and these are courses that people often take before pursuing law to start with! If you like humanities/social science-based subjects that involve a lot of essay writing and the potential to complete a dissertation, these are all excellent options! Often, there are options to take joint degrees in each of these fields as well, so if you're interested in more than one subject, there are loads of options for you!

You can find specific undergraduate courses for each of the listed subjects below:
History courses: https://www.qmul.ac.uk/study/history/
Politics and IR courses: https://www.qmul.ac.uk/study/politics-and-international-relations/
Economics Courses: https://www.qmul.ac.uk/study/economics-finance/

Hope this helps!

Thank you!!

No worries @S12356! Hope you found the info helpful and good luck with whatever course you decide to pursue!
Hey, I'm Scarlet, I'm a third-year Law and Criminology student at Sheffield Hallam and I love it!

On the course you will study 3 law modules with 1 module of criminology per year. I love the mixture between law and criminology as it breaks it up a bit and it also gives you an extra avenue to go down career wise. Most importantly, I think studying both subjects together makes the course more enjoyable as the criminology content is so different as it is more theory based, where as law is more factual. Both subjects tie together so well as criminology can make you think about why people commit crimes, and you learn more about the criminal justice systems.

I've had a great experience studying this course so I hope this helps, if you have any more questions about the course let me know and I'll try my best to help!
