My partner will be supporting me whilst I study. On the application form, when it says 'We’ll check your household income direct with HM Revenue and Customs'- does this mean they'll check the income of just my partner with HMRC or me and my partner? I won't be working during my studies. Thanks!

Your earned income as the student isn’t part of the household income assessment. Only your partners income is assessed and only that will be checked with HMRC usually - although if you have unearned income (rental or trust funds or similar) then that might be checked with hmrc
