I'm a languages student in the UK and next year I'll be going on my year abroad (fingers crossed). Because of Brexit etc I'll need full medical insurance for my student visa to stay in Spain. This has proved difficult.

Maybe because this is the first time UK students have needed a visa for study in the EU but there doesn't seem to be a clear option for medical insurance for me.
Spanish medical insurance doesn't work because I would need to be resident in Spain as of purchasing it. Travel insurance does not have sufficient coverage. The international companies I've tried (Allianz and Cigna) have a minimum one year contract and they only allow you to book one month in advance. I might be tempted to buy a year long contract with them but I doubt SAAS (the Scottish funding) would subsidise that.

If anyone has any advice or is also currently trying to apply for a visa, please let me know.
Thanks

I am in the same situation. Have you managed to come up with a solution since posting? I am really struggling, this whole visa process is a nightmare.

Sanitas international students! Bear in mind the process will take a couple days as you will have to send them your acceptance letter and passport info. Also make sure the bank you would pay for it with can send you a transfer receipt as they will ask you to send them a screenshot of this as proof of payment… they’re quite easy to get a hold of for any questions though (trust me I rang a lot haha? Hope this helps!
