If you don't mind my aking, what do you mean about the prayer?
We say a prayer in synagogue each week, in english which goes as follows:

he who gives salvation to kings and dominion to princes, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom - may He bless:

Our sovereign lady, queed elizabeth,
Philip Duke of Edinburgh,
The prince of Wales,
and all the Royal Family,

May teh supreme king of kings in his mercy preserve thequeen in life, guard her and deliver her from all trouble and sorrow. May he put a spirit of understanding into her heart and into the hearts of her counsellors, that they may uphold the peace of the realm, advance the welfare of the nation and deal kindly and justly with all the house of israel. On her days and in ours may our heavenly father spread the tabernacle of peace over all thedwellers on earth; and may the redeemer come to zion and let us say amen.

So thats what i mean

That's quite cool. Why is the prayer said about the Royal Family though?

Because we respect the state we live in, we follow the law of the land before the law of the religion.

Oh cool, not trying to be patronising but I think that's an excellent sentiment! :tsr:

bringing it around to an oxbridge theme, the worrything is he once upon a time might well have just been given a place at oxbridge just for being him. imagine harry as one of your tutorial pals

on the plus side, he's not known for being the sharpest knife in the drawer, so if he was your tute buddy then your essays would always look sparkling and wonderful in comparision :p:

I'll be a music student - with a keen interest in technology though.

you're not the music student type who lives in their room with their piano and refuses to come out and socialise (well at least says they will and never does), are you?

and you go to a jewish school so i would guess you believe in god? if you do then v pleased yet another person is coming so i can argue with them over religion!

I have a piano in my room, but I definatly socialise - i promise. As for god - i don't have a clue, but am happy to discuss with anyone.

no need to tbh.....i'm agnostic, but generally based upon facing up to the fact that god is defined such that his existence can not be disproved....doesnt mean i believe it's true though

just out of total curiosity (this is totally random, i know very little about Judaism but found that fact kinda fascinating) what would Jewish people living in designated Muslim states such as Saudi Arabia do, seeing as that law states you aren't allowed to practice your religion publicly? i suppose i'm thinking more in the context of orthodox Jews here
