I doubt it- it's not a common subject. How many other Universities is that actually available at? That's a pretty good indicator.

Obviously they realise you may well be applying for politics/history or whatever elsewhere, but I reckon you could really work the war emphasis into the politics stuff more so its not just a tiny proportion of the statement.

I would like to apply to do War Studies as a post grad after having done a law degree years ago and then worked in the City . Has anyone had any experience of this ?
Link it. i.e. what aspect of politics you're interested in and how it relates to war. Look at war not as a conflict, but a study. I took a philosophical angle with regards to human nature and war. You've got to basically sell yourself and tell them why you want to study war, and possibly tell them how what you've done in the past can help/relate/shows your interest in the subject.

Funny you should say that. There is one lawyer I know of currently on my Post-Graduate program, as well as people that have worked in the financial sector. There are all sorts.

It's unique. It really is the only kind in the world. Bradford have something similar called 'peace studies'. I believe Birmingham have this year or are next year setting up their own program but King's really is the only place.

It's availible at a small handful of other universities. Yeah, I know I need to factor a bit more of it in. My personal statements starting to look like a patchwork quilt at the moment. Any other advice? Thanks for yours!

I so know what you mean about patchwork PS. Try writing one that covers Sociology, Education Studies, Theatre Arts, English lit and Culture & Society. Thankfully I came to my senses a couple of days ago and I am now applying for just the one subject. It does mean I had to throw the patchwork quilt out but tbh it was so easy to write a new one with just one subject in mind.
