Would anybody who has already had one like to share a little advice and put my mind at rest?
My friend is applying to Hallam and I know they have to have GROUP interviews
I have applied to Kings, Brunel, St George's, UEL, Brighton and Oxford Brookes and I cant find any information about what format their interviews take. How long are they? Does everywhere do group interviews? What sort of questions do they ask?
*is terrified of group interviews...and interviews in general*
The physio interviews at St Georges are individual........and rumour has it that generally Kings do not interview for the BSc......but may interview certain applicants depending how sure they are etc. Brighton is also individual interviews.
Generally interviews last around 15-20 mins.......usually ask you things like
1. Why do you want to do Physio 2. What areas interest you most 3. Tell us about your work experience 4. Extra curricular activities
etc
thye aren't there to make life hard for you - I found my previous interviews to be extremely relaxed and laid back
Hi ya, I did all my interviews a 2 yrs ago but i managed to get offers after all so i hope i can help. In group interviews: ' You usually talk amongst yourselves with the staff present talking about a life changing experience or somthing like that...They are looking for an active participant who will ask questions about other peoples experiences etc and involve quieter people...but they dont want anyone too pushy...you got to listen too...Think of muchael parkinson...polite, talks when its necessary/can direct the conversation but he also listens and uses the answers to ask further. ----Alot of work at uni and in practice is team work and interpersonal skills are highly regarded!! They will all ask you why you want to apply to the particular uni----you need to research the uni.....at southampton they have joint learning with OT's in some lectures, kings is a research base...birmingham is hosiptal based...they all have something special about them including reputation that you should mention. They wiill ask you why u derserve the place....dont just talk about your academic skills...they know about that from your PS...you need to mention other traits you have....recogniseing your strenghts and weaknessess and how you improve your weaknessess. talk about experience lots...they want to know youve experienced physio and know what to expect...its not as glamorous as it seems when you havent tried it! They usually ask somehting about the difference between a-level and degree level.....basically the dont 'hold your hand'. you have to be highly motivated and self conscious and self directed study is most of the work...but support is available if you just ask. theyre the basics i think...good luck. Look smart look happy look enthusiastic be polite be knowledgeable

Hey! Im doing physio at kings at the moment. Nobody i know here had an interview, so you'll probably be lucky there! I had an interview for brighton which was individual..they are lovely there so dont worry about that interview!! The advice from the last 2 replies is perfect - what qus they'll ask etc. I had a group interview and individual one in birmingham..neither too bad, just the expected questions/situations, but i hated the women interviewing me, they were really cold, rude and tried to put me off..uni was horrible too, so i withdrew my application! But that was my only bad experience and that wasnt to do with the actual interview it was just the people! Good luck and dont worry..! i recommend kcl, great course, lovely people and great city! if you get into kings and have any questions just ask.xx

No interviews for KCL is normal as they have a no interview policy - that is unless you're applying for the MSc.........so its good personal statement and reference or nothing to get in!! hehe
Wish they'd hurry up and put me out of your misery! How long did you have to wait for them to tell you wether you were in? Dunno whats taking so long!
ok I can think of one or two strengths/weaknesses to mention in the interview if they ask me, but does anyone have examples of themselves which may spark a few ideas for me???
I know i'm far from perfect, but this aint half difficult to prepare for my interview tommorow!!

errrr....not weaknesses....got asked what attributes I would bring to a department, I guess thats the same as strengths.......
never got asked in my previous interviews either - bit of a stupid question if you ask me!
did u get home to see the post yet!? lol
Still no post. But i think my interview at Cardiff went quite well today. But even if I did a really good interview, there are only 24places on the 2yr course!

Its just a waiting game from now on!
Competition is soo tough for 2 year course - think KCL is about the same 25 places and they have about 250 applicants - ahve u applied for BSc at Cardiff?

Yeah, I applied to both the courses they offer at Cardiff; 3yr and 2yr Both BSc courses.Unfortunately the 2yr is unlike most other unis which are MScs if they're accellerated.
The interview was for both courses.
Found out though, that the 2 yr course is going to be changed to a MSc for Jan 2007 entry! If only I was applying next year eh?!!!!!
