Gcse maths requirements for accounting and finance

So I attained a 5 in my gcse maths and want to go on to study accounting and finance at a Russel group university. However nearly every single Russel group uni asks for a 6 in gcse maths. If I met the a level requirements would I still be rejected from the course because I only missed one grade from the gcse maths entry requirement. Also I did the level 3 certificate in core maths and I’m waiting for my result to come back in august to see how I did so would that help me? I’m in year 12 btw.

Yes thanks I’ve had a look at that but I’d prefer to go to a Russel group uni in the midlands such as Manchester and Sheffield.

May be worth pointing out to both you and OP that Russell group isn't actually that big of a deal or a sign of being a good university. It's much more applicable to research.
