i have an nqt interview and I was going to do a carol ann duffy poem but figured that might be a problem as language has to be changed.

I don’t see why you can’t do a carol Ann Duffy poem.
Valentine was in the anthology of poems we had to analyse and learn for my English gcse. Chances are they’ll end up studying her next year anyway

There are Carol Ann Duffy poems with language that's suitable for school, definitely.
I wouldn't overthink the choice, though.
