Hi @Emilymoore2018 and @Nickii_x,
I am a current child nursing student at Uni of Southampton!
(I know this post was a while ago, but thought it was worth replying for the benefits of others as well!)

At our uni they do not like mixing placement and academic learning, so we have blocks of teaching and then have a block of placement. These blocks vary in length and usually the assessment for the teaching block will come after a block of placement to give students more time to work on the assessments if need be. Depending on the module it is usually 2-3 blocks of lectures/seminars per week e.g. 3 hours in a morning or afternoon. And then there is preparatory work they expect to be completed prior to lectures and seminars and wider reading sources.
As this is a full time course they say that all the work including attendance at lectures should equate to a full working week of 37.5hrs per week. Whilst on placement you are only expected to do work related to passing your placement which consists of a few different elements.

Please pop any further questions in the thread below! I am here to help!
