I wouldn't want to kill the bubbly atmosphere in here but I have quiet a serious question.
For anyone that uses train to get to uni, how much do you spend on travel per month and year?
Myself, i'll be travelling from zone 4 to zone 3. How much do you reckon it will cost me?

Dude Mile end is in zone 2 not 3 (if you're traveling to uni). I travel from zone 3/4 and monthly travel card costs me £57.30 as I don't travel through zone 1, I suggest you click here for more info.

i'll be travelling from zone 3 to 2 then 1 and then 2 again... although the good thing is, there'll be no changes  just one train on the central line :woo:

You're quiet right, it is in zone 2. I visited the place once and used the station Stepney Green. It was a very shot walk, is Mile End really closer?

I can take both central (although I have to change at stratford) and district line home. :teehee:

There's not really much of a difference, but most people use Mile end.

Depends where you're going. If you're going toward Engineering then Stepney Green is closer, if you're going toward the Library then Mile End is closer.

OK, so i'll be having to put aside £1000 of my loan to travel. Apart from that, considering I will be living at home, is there really anything else I have to worry about financially or is the rest to be spent on luxury goods? Also on my student finance I told them I will be living on campus, but that obviously wont be the case, however they will give me £4900, should I tell them I will live at home and then have the loan reduced? Or will they find out if I don't tell them?

It depends on your department really; if you're an engineer Stepney would be closer wouldn't it? Whereas if you're in Arts or Law it'd be Mile End?

Strange, I thought it was in zone three too for some reason; thankfully I haven't been buying the wrong ticket as I live in zone three anyway!

I know people that have gotten away with saying there were living away, whilst staying at home and pocketing the difference, I don't suppose it's likely that anyone will find out, but if they did I don't know what would happen.

District Line from Monument to Stepney Green; why on EARTH does it always stop just outside Whitechaep. It's like they actually plan on driving me insane every single morning!

Foggs is a bit near Stepney Green but I get off at Mile end living East an all. Besides Stepney green is a bit too quiet that it creeps me out. :p:
so where do all the science kids get off; stepney or mile end?

If you're going to the Fogg Building then Stepney, if you're going to Walter Besant (or as you guys will know it: Joseph Priestly) get off at Mile End.

Try going there when it's chucking out time at the pubs...not very quiet at all :shifty:

If I'm going home on the District I prefer to go to Stepney simply because it saves me a stop on the tube.:p: I like to take the District in the warmer months as it's cooler. I usually end up getting off early and walking the rest of the way though; the amount of times I've negotiated the crowds outside the tower of London.

On a particularly nice day I walked from QMUL to London Bridge, it's enough after you pass the market.:ninja:
i got back from one of those family parties today, where like 3 of my uncles had fun saying bitchy stuff about QM to me

Or soon after school has finished, those bloody rowdy kids.

ETA: It isn't Walter Besant, nor is it Joseph Priestly, it is... "The Glassy Building".
