I prefer having breaks between lectures. I mean four hours straight of alternating lectures (physical chemistry and cell dynamics) was not fun, didn't help it started at 9am. :\ But there's two modules that are two hours straight (heredity and gene action and basic biochemistry).

You also have my sympathies for doing essential skills for biologists. You're going to be bored to death! :sadnod:

When was that? I left at like 1.15 and they hadn't gone off then?

Also my flat is nothing like what I imagined Freshers to be like, like half of it is international students who are barely even associating with us :frown:

About 2.30.

And same. There's 3 of us who go out and 3 who don't! What building and flat are you in?
I'm not looking forward to having to get up at half eight tomorrow morning to go to my induction thing :mute:

I've got induction tomorrow aswell, not until like 10am anyways though, so it's not so bad.
Hmm I've seen plenty of people with these double sided timetables for freshers week but I've only got the basic timetable (a quarter of a page) that they sent out ages ago :s-smilie: Stupid Royal Mail !! Dunno what to do tomorrow.
Looking forward to induction  ooh btw, i meant to ask, where on earth is the Fogg building.. I can't find it on any of the maps... I know where People's palace, Queens building and john priestly are so far, but in order to find out who my advisor is i need to get to Fogg...

I wish i lived on campus, it looked like so much fun yesterday:p:

Well be thankful for that because I don't have any timetables at the moment... i only have a timetable for tomorrow :moon:

What is a tutorial? Surely its not like college? Isn't Uni just going in and out of lectures?

No, there are tutorials as well; how many depends on the subject. They're often quite helpful too.

OK, so somewhat like a seminar? Ie. they will put you in a group with classmates, not random people from all different subjects?

Tutorials in my experience can range from a group of four to five people, to half of the people of the module, sitting down and working through a problem set, and applying the week's learning.

Nobody from different subjects, unless it's a module that applies to two subjects, but they'd be in the lectures with you too.

OK, thanks for that. Bloody hell, Uni keeps getting more complex by the minute, I thought it would be like 4 lectures a week and thats all. Also I don't know how to get to my building tommorow, am I making a mistake in assuming I can just go to reception and ask? In fat I did check the little map and its right next to reception but I think i'll still ask.

What's your building? Which 'reception' would you be going to?

The Skeel lecture theatre, which if i'm not mistaken is right next to the main reception building? The classy looking place with a drive and everything?

Oh they should be able to direct you, but it's pretty well sign posted once you go into building 33.

Here's a map. Inside there's a big blue board with arrows.

I've never actually been into Skeel mind, my induction was in the Great Hall so I missed that chance and I've never had lectures there.
