Universities and professors have always had their PhD minions do their work for them. If you did science, your labs would be a lead by a PhD kid. Your coursework will also probably be marked by them too.
'Tis unfortuntately the way of the world, but university isn't school and there certainly aren't enough professors to go around and have one-to-one tuition. That's not just at QMUL by the way, happens everywhere.
Oh I knew that, I just think it's rich of them to constantly be asking for higher tutition fees and making out how great their teaching is in some cases and then to farm us out to a Phd student who doesn't have a clue what the hell he's doing, because it's probably cheaper for them and so the professors can continue writing some book they have underway.
I expected it from the likes of the LSE, not from somewhere like QMUL which is supposedly meant to have better teaching. Oh well, I'll just suck it up and take it like a bitch, it's not like they're immensely important for my subject anyways.

I expected it from the likes of the LSE, from QMUL which is supposedly meant to have good teaching, I didn't really, especially when my other History seminar teacher is someone from the SOAS.

I sympathise. The uni have still not sorted out my module registration stuff, even though I have been chasing them round non-stop and the deadline is Friday. What will happen? Typically, it will be the the student that pays the price.

The history department is a shambles atm because they've just moved, did you go to the office and speak with the admin staff directly? when I switched from IR to His/Pol I choose my modules and they added me to the lectures and seminars then and there.

Yeah, I've spoken to some admin woman and she goes come back on Monday, when the deadline is THIS Friday. I have also e-mailed my adviser to ensure he knows the situation because I'm not paying for their negligence.
