"Perhaps you should start educating people about what the BNP stand for, instead of rioting in the streets and sending blank letters."

ARGH, I just got fined on the 25 just because I was tired and couldn't be bothered to walk down to the shop to top up my Oyster card first

Of all the people that skip fares on that ******* bus 24 hours a day, it had to be me that got done over. Rage.

How much?

How much?

£25 if I pay within 21 days, £50 if I leave it longer. I just rang them up to try and pay it now and they told me it would take at least 24 hours for the ticket to go through the system so I have to wait until tomorrow or the day after to pay  I know it's not much really, but I am a bit skint at the moment and I could really do without it. My monthly travelcard ran out yesterday and I just couldn't really be arsed to walk out of my way top up my PAYG one, guess I'm not making that mistake again :awesome:

It might not be much, but it's still £25 gone down the drain for nothing. I hope they catch the people who get on the bus with the intention of free-riding, especially those that do it regularly.

See that's what annoys me more than anything. The ticket inspector got off at Aldgate East and immediately about six people came on and not one of them swiped their card, and were obviously only on that particular bus (instead of say, the 205) because it was "free", whereas I pay £100 for a travelcard (in which time there were not one but two East London bus strikes) and the one time I don't pay, I get fined.

My mate got fined the other day because she hadn't swiped her card, even though it had money on it and the only reason she hadn't touched in was because it was so busy she couldn't reach the reader thing

I'd rather they didn't privatise the buses and make us pay extortionate prices...20% fare increase in 2010, I'm sure that's not going to be a problem...:curious:

I didn't mention about privatising the buses or anything like that. I'm saying I'd like to see more patrols on buses to ensure that everyone who hops on pays, if required to do so. I don't think people should be allowed to free-ride. This problem can be tackled without the need to privatise buses.

Just bad luck, unfortunately.
Lesson of the day, never go to a random barbers on Mile End Road where the barber barely speaks English because of laziness. They have a habit of chopping off much more hair than you ask for... :frown:

Yup, I couldn't be bothered to go anywhere else, and instead of getting it somewhat long on top so I can gel it, I've now got it so short I can't even spike it, bah

I hate my POL100 essay

Which one you doing? I'm doing the one about the New Right and I've only done my abstract so far :s-smilie: I'm finding IR soooo much easier.

You absolute tool, that's precisely my point. The buses were privatised decades ago, and by putting short term profits and the associated extortionate prices at the top of their agenda, the situation has been created whereby people avoid paying for fares because they're just too bloody expensive!

Instead of pushing for more patrols, maybe you should push for a decent fare system?
Such was the condition of infant man; the life of an animal limited at first to mere sensations, and hardly profiting by the gifts nature bestowed on him, much less capable of entertaining a thought of forcing anything from her. But difficulties soon presented themselves, and it became necessary to learn how to surmount them: the height of the trees, which prevented him from gathering their fruits, the competition of other animals desirous of the same fruits, and the ferocity of those who needed them for their own preservation, all obliged him to apply himself to bodily exercises. He had to be active, swift of foot, and vigorous in fight. Natural weapons, stones and sticks, were easily found: he learnt to surmount the obstacles of nature, to contend in case of necessity with other animals, and to dispute for the means of subsistence even with other men, or to indemnify himself for what he was forced to give up to a stronger.

If you live in London you get free travel till 18. So people here have been paying bus fares for maybe 3-4 years tops. Does it matter what happened decades ago? Its not a culture of fare avoidment, its just people trying to get something for free because there aren't enough negative consequences for it.

They should just expand congestion charge to the whole of zone,2 make zone 1 a no car zone and let us cycle everywhere. win!
