HELP to convince my somewhat strict religious parents to let me get a piercing

So I really want a piercing anywhere on my body but my parents, especially my mum forbids them. I have the usual normal piercings nearly everyone has when they’re a kid but my mum literally forbids anymore. She thinks they go against the Bible and they’re demonic (I know literally makes 0 sense). I read passages in the Bible where they speak about it but having a piercing isn’t really a sin.

Also my sister tried to pierce her ear one day and she got a really bad keloid and also got in trouble with my mum. A few years later she decided to pierce underneath her tongue but she did it so wrong and it got infected and she was in an induced coma in the ICU for about a week because of the piercing. Because of that there’s literally no way they’ll let me get a piercing but I will obviously go to a professional to prevent infections.

My mum was kind of like this with dying hair but i told her that it’s literally my hair and if it damages i’ll deal with the consequences and now she lets me do whatever but when it comes to piercings she forbids them.

Can you guys give me tips on how to convince my parents to let me get a piercing please

Oh and i’m also 17 soon 18 if anyone is wondering

Your mom is right about it being a sin. In the bible, it says, “You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you: I am the Lord,” Leviticus 19:28.

Though, I can understand the want for them. I got one a couple of months ago in my daith.

I think the biggest thing with your mom is making her understand that you will take care of it properly (so no infection occurs) and that your experience won't be the same as your sisters'.

Since your mum is scared of something going wrong, maybe a belly button piercing would be best? They are one of the easiest to maintain and it's rare they get infected.

And, hey, the worst thing that would happen is you have to wait a year to get it.

Try convincing her that you'll only get piercings in rather 'conventional' areas (e.g. more piercings on your ears, small nose piercings, etc.) Don't try to push it with her because it might deter her even more from allowing you to get them.
Also, I'm not Christian or of any religion that follows the bible but if it truly isn't a sin, try to find quotes from the bible that prove that to her.

Of course! I hope it helped :h:
I want a second ear piercing too but I have not asked my mum yet. We are christians but I don't think that's the main reason I probably won't be allowed one. I think it's just because my mum thinks it looks weird...

Does it not mention specifically, “…for the dead”? For the dead is a reference to paganism, which is a polytheistic religion that places others idols as equivalent to the Lord. Are general piercing bad when they don’t honor anyone?

For the dead…isn’t this a reference to paganism where they worship multiple idols and honor the dead? Would a general piercing still follow this policy?
