Hi, I want to study Spanish and German ab initio at university. I’ve been looking at Cambridge because it’s not as literature heavy as Oxford. I’m looking for good universities that focus more on becoming fluent in the languages and studying culture, history, linguistics, philosophy etc. Can someone help?

UCL has pretty extensive language options (they might have the widest range of languages available at any one uni in fact!). They also seem to have a fair range of non-literature options in relation to those languages. Might be worth exploring?
