Hi, I take A-levels in chemistry, maths and computer science and I have done an AS-level in French. I am thinking about doing medicine, but I haven't taken biology A-level.

I have looked at the requirements at many universities and although most don't require biology (they require chemistry and 1 other science) I wouldn't feel comfortable applying to medicine without at least an AS in biology.

I am planning on taking a gap year, has anyone done the whole of biology A-level in just 1 year? I would only have that as my subject to do, however I wouldn't be doing it at school.

Thank you

I've known someone do Biology and Chemistry in a year and get a medicine place - but they had managed 4 A* with their original A levels (Maths, FM, Physics, Comp Sci). At least one uni was happy for them to do Chemistry A level and just Biology AS.

You'll need to pass the practical endorsement - make sure you have a plan for getting this done.
